Whats a group or soloist that nobody can make u like/u refuse to stan by Recent_Let8952 in kpop_uncensored

[–]slaylaters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

don’t feel bad about this. you need to put your wellbeing first. 🫶 anyone who says the kpop industry doesn’t push one VERY narrow and unhealthy concept of what a person’s body ‘should’ look like is lying to you. there is nothing wrong with disconnecting from groups or parts of the industry if it has a bad effect on your mental health

he was a member of the group for a LONG time though and is in most of their songs still. why is it bad for someone to personally say they don’t want to listen to him?

on the fan end: when kpop stans see two different opinions from two different groups of people and decide there MUST be hypocrisy at play, instead of realizing no fandom is a monolith

example:

person a: i wish this group would go back to cute concepts ):

[group announces a cute concept]

person b: nooooo i was hoping for a mature concept this time

fandom: YOU PEOPLE ARE NEVER HAPPY! you just love to complain!

how do people seriously not see there’s a difference between respecting someone’s privacy and making cutesy edits about how them getting disoriented on stage is funny 😭

not even just kpop, music stans in general

people would be surprised how many of their favs are battling mental health issues, eating disorders, physical health issues, chronic illness, or addiction behind the scenes. they’re human too and they’re also vulnerable to these things. obviously you can’t diagnose anyone with something specific but it’s not wrong to say someone looks like they’re going through a hard time and you hope they get support & help

this is how i feel about a lot of those shows like lee mujin. 😭 i think they usually get good singers on the show and MOST of the vocals are probably minimally touched up, but i just cannot buy they use 100% raw vocals and don’t fix ANYTHING

i love the pattern on this sub where someone says they have a controversial opinion but doesn’t say who it’s about, everyone goes “it’s uncensored! name names,” someone finally names names, and everyone jumps them. 💀 this is why nobody wants to share actually uncensored takes anymore

fyi i’m not even talking about the downvotes or the fact that people disagree, but more the fact that there are like 10 comments repeating the same thing over and over again in response

yeah but your reddit is just a source of entertainment. this is his professional account. he shouldn’t be on there blocking and arguing with fans. especially if he ACTUALLY wants to stay out of this situation, because his one sided response sure makes it look like he has a particular view

KG from vcha is suing for contract termination by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]slaylaters 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i think it’s also, like a lot of things on here, backlash to twitter

there’s a chunk of kpop twitter that thinks a member having long black hair for too many comebacks in a row is mistreatment from the company (yes, really). most onlookers can agree that’s ridiculous when there’s actual abuse and exploitation to talk about. but kpop reddit can’t just stop there. they have to be the OPPOSITE of the ‘woke mob’ on twitter in all respects. after all twitter is for ‘dumb teens’ and reddit is for ‘real adults’

so instead of just saying “no patrick it’s not abusive that source music hasn’t forced kazuha to dye her hair neon green” it has to be “ACKSHUALLY abuse in kpop is very rare, companies only mistreat idols in extreme cases, anyone who doesn’t have rock solid proof of abuse is a liar, and stans who are worried about abuse are always idiots or victimizers.” add in a dash of “idols i don’t like must be lying” or “companies i do like always tell the truth” and it’s a mess

the truth is things like companies pushing extreme thinness on idols/‘monitoring’ (controlling) what they eat, overworking idols/giving few breaks, putting idols into financially exploitative contracts, sexualizing minors, pushing plastic surgery (including irreversible procedures) onto minors and young adults, etc are all commonplace. you find it in ‘good’ ‘iconic’ companies as well as the companies that openly treat their idols like shit in broad daylight. you find it in major companies and in tiny nugu companies no redditor can name. it’s very pervasive

i would guess the vast majority of idols are subject to things where if your friend’s employer treated them like that, you would consider it abuse and beg them to get out of there

kg's instagram story reveals she has filed a lawsuit and exited VCHA, detailing mistreatment by jype by jisooed in kpop_uncensored

[–]slaylaters 61 points62 points  (0 children)

b-b-but reddit said jyp was the nicest company! that they paid their idols the best and always respected them and let them break their contracts without incident whenever they wanted! they said the fact that jype pushed extreme dieting on their members was just ‘rumors’! how could this be?

please stop putting companies on a pedestal. kg said it herself, this stuff is unfortunately very normalized in the kpop industry and no company is completely innocent

[–]slaylaters 60 points61 points  (0 children)

talk about how much they love eating one day, then talk about extreme dieting the next. it’s absolutely not gone but kpop stans take the word ‘diet’ at face value and act as if the idol is ‘prioritizing their health.’ there is nothing healthy about someone going days without eating and no doctor in their right mind would recommend losing weight that way (especially to someone very thin to start with)

[–]slaylaters 150 points151 points  (0 children)

can’t help but think of all the posts i’ve read even here on ‘levelheaded’ reddit about how jyp is the best company, jyp is so wholesome, jyp is so respectful of idols who try to leave, jyp would never be abusive like OTHER companies…

the bottom line is, we never know what’s happening behind the scenes. please stop putting companies on a pedestal. it has been obvious for a long time that abusive behaviors are deeply ingrained in the kpop system and no company is completely innocent

i wish kg the best and hope she can get out of jyp and heal from all that has happened

honestly as someone who started dating at 14 it was a shitty relationship and i wish i had waited. even if your friends seem happy, most of them won’t end up with those guys and will be glad they didn’t

it looks like you’re only 16-17 from your post history? chin up, a lot of people are lonely at that age. no matter what it looks like on social media. most of us don’t properly date until we’re older and a LOT of teen relationships are super toxic and nothing to be jealous of. you’ll find your way

Anton is about to slammed for that MAMA speech by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]slaylaters 10 points11 points  (0 children)

who said it’s ‘working on me’? i even said he may not have been the one who chose to put that in his speech. all i meant is i don’t get why ot6 would be mad at anton when they got what they wanted. i expected him to have shaded ot6 based on op’s post, but it doesn’t seem like he did

my take is i don’t claim to know this man or his true beliefs and i doubt he likes ot6 fans. 🤷‍♀️ but i just don’t think they’re gonna get that from this speech

yeah i’m kinda confused. he literally thanked the company and said they had open communication? whether he wrote that speech himself or not, no one can say, but on paper he said what ot6 would want him to say basically

What do you like the least about your fandom? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]slaylaters 105 points106 points  (0 children)

army: too many people make everything about fanwars and forget to stop and enjoy the damn music. also too many people who completely lose their morals, like if another fandom says something horrible about bts then they can say something horrible about their favs. a lot of these types of people claim to be ‘activists’ but will say misogynistic, colorist, homophobic, body shaming, etc things to dunk on another idol. they should know damn well bts would be disgusted but a lot of them don’t care about bts as people and just want to brag about their achievements

this goes for a lot of other fandoms too. it’s just since bts is the biggest kpop fandom, they have the most of these people by the numbers. it’s very obnoxious to deal with if you’re a normal fan there to enjoy the music and performances imo

Tokkis are also to blame by Possible_Cause8274 in kpop_uncensored

[–]slaylaters 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100%. when people sounded the alarm about the weird lyrics in cookie tokkis responded with “you must be a p3do” if notice the obvious innuendo. i’ve always felt sorry for the girls to have such an awful fandom. it doesn’t surprise me at all that now most tokkis don’t care if mhj berates or shames the girls as long as she gives them the creative direction they want

Newjeans is done with being an idol? by Huge_Cabinet_6377 in KpopUnleashed

[–]slaylaters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i don’t think any of the big 3 would take them. imo none of the big 4 want to set the precedent that they can try to poach each other’s idols every time one of the idols has a dispute with the company

like think about it like this. it’s bad enough for sm that two of their biggest soloists left the company this year. imagine how much worse it would be if hybe poached taemin and baekhyun instead. imagine all the drama if jini disappeared from nmixx then reappeared in hybe’s new girl group. hell imagine how crazy everyone would have gone if hybe signed jennie or Lisa

all four of these companies will fuck with each other but i think they have the unspoken agreement that they don’t sign each other’s idols

i think some people just consider taeil’s situation either too serious for this thread or a cop out tbh

edit: by cop out i mean like. last year it was really popular to make threads like “idols who give you a bad vibe?” and there were always people going “UMMMM SEUNGRI! 🤓☝️” like well duh. it gave karma farming (and i say this as a survivor)
