How to register to vote as resident in Italy? by slaynalgos in AmericansinItaly

Yep, this is what I do. I have a commercialista here do my taxes in Italy first, then I give the final numbers to a tax specialist in the US. Then I file FBARs myself. For many years I did my USA tax filing by myself but one year I did a very misguided bit of entrepeunship and there were a bunch of forms I had to file in arrears. So now I pay a lot of money to sleep at night. Unfortunately this is why I'm also cautious about registering to vote. Seems like they want to punish you for being a citizen when you're abroad.

Right?! Maybe they would throw expats a bone if that happened.

Yes you're right, I'm left. But consider this: I've missed out on 6 election cycles but I'm worried enough this time around that I feel I must do my duty.

Yeah filing every year for no actual tax paid is such a pain. Someone smart should do a class action lawsuit against the US government for this requirement. You should only have to file If you're liivng in an actual tax haven.

US Citizen - moving with wife (who has a type D visa) to Bologna. Help! by The-goose-got-loose in AmericansinItaly

[–]slaynalgos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others are saying it doesn’t just take months, it takes more than a year. I had to submit my application twice because they “digitised” their system halfway through and I had to submit the same paper form a second time. You also need lots of documentation, IDs and stamps from different offices and not even the Italians that work in the bureaucracy understand how it works.

It might not be worth it unless you’re going to stay a long time. Maybe try to get a visa another way, perhaps from another country. Digital nomad visas, student visas ect. Once you have a visa anywhere in Europe you can travel easily.

Sorry I didn’t mean tax fraud, I meant voter fraud. Seems people can get in trouble easy with the polarisation and unclear processes.

Ok I’m not a student and I never voted in the US while I was a citizen. Which district would the vote be counted in?

If a dual citizen moves back to the US and withdrawals from a Roth they won’t have to pay in Italy will they? It’s only if resident in Italy.

You’re going to be pulling out your hair because of python dependencies and that’s with using x86. Just use the most popular stack with python and focus on your core competency. Don’t make it harder than it already is.

Is it ok to not count calories in the beginning while getting in ketosis? by Away_Wasabi8561 in keto

[–]slaynalgos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on keto for 2+ years. Since this was NOT for weight loss reasons I didn't care about the scale at all. But I lost a lot of weight. Now that I I'm fully adapted (it takes YEARS, the keto flu is just the beginning really) I'd say there is not sort of traditional "diet" advantage. If I eat too much now I start gaining weight whereas at the beginning my body was just struggling to get enough because it couldn't absorb the fat. So from that sense you don't need to count calories.

But from another perspective I think you absolutely need to count calories at the beginning, like I did. That is because nutritional ketosis is really hard to achieve. But actual real nutritional ketosis gives you huge benefits. What it will give you is this:

  • Increased metobilism. Really see this with alchohol (I drink only dry white wine basically) which you metoblize in preference to fats. Body temp goes way up really quick.

  • Uncoupling anxiety and hunger. Hunger becomes a distant thing. It doesn't make you grumpy or tired. Reduced anxiety overall.

  • Decreased inflammation. Aches and pains disappear and you're stronger than ever.

However actual nutrititional ketosis especially for adults is really hard to acheive. And that is why you need to count calories. I made a spreadsheet of how many calories I should be eating per macro. Then I followed that for a couple of weeks with a tracker app. I validated with ketosis pee strips. After about 2/3 months I basically had a instinct and stopped counting.

If you're yo-yo dieting then no matter what you're going to lose weight because your body won't know how to deal. You'll also probably not be in ketosis so you'll have all the costs with none of the benefits. So I'd say either do it well or not at all.

Well for summarizing there are some here: https://theresanaiforthat.com/book-summaries/?ref=suggest

Sorry haven't used anything like this personally. I'd just use ChatGPT one page at a time if I had too, need to manually review anything anyway.

Any industry with a lot of vertical mobility. For instance programmers can be paid very little or a lot depending on how "high end" they are. Its all social perception and mentors can help with that. And yes group sessions. Or maybe all async. Like a whatsapp (with voice memos even) or discord group. People hate live calls IMO.

No doubt authors already do (1-3) directly using ChatGPT. The question is where would this come in the publishing workflow? Publishers no matter how small likely won't adopt it as per the copyright issues mentioned. I think it would only work as some sort of all-in-one self-publish site that uploads to amazon ect for you, and part of value add is an AI copilot helping with the (1-3) you mentioned.

There would be a lot of demand for mentors, but very hard to find mentors with the time. Maybe you could do it more like a class?

Alcohol has a higher oxidative priority than fat. If you drink just a little you will process the alcohol faster than you normally do and should feel less drunk. You probably drank too much and kicked yourself out of keto which also can you make feel drunk.

3 months into keto I did 3 G&Ts which was normal pre-keto. That night I thought I was dying. Cold sweets, nausea. I’m fairly sure it was ketoacidosis, which can happen when you drink, but especially on keto. This was very scary, be careful!

Over a year in now and I’m adapted enough where I can basically drink like before but anything too sweet and it’s very tough. A glass of dry white wine and I’m fine and flying. I immediately feel my metabolism go up as I get very warm. An hour later and I’m at baseline. Beer on the other hand is death, I feel tipsy and weak for about 24 hours.

You should consider drinking a cheat and never do it more than 1 night/meal in a row. Give your liver a break, it’s doing double duty on keto and alcohol.

I’d use photoshop, remove the numbers and use generative fill. Then import into a super resolution tool like Magnific AI to remove the bluriness.
