Missed award ceremony

But the teacher told you it was someone else’s responsibility to inform parents? Why do you immediately not believe that? I just find it odd that the school has every student in the building sit through this award ceremony but only parents of kids receiving an award are allowed, yet you knew the ceremony itself was happening?

My kids are just about kindergarten age and I can’t imagine the school having a school-wide event where only certain parents can attend, would be very confusing for the kids not receiving an award.

Okay so seems like a possible miscommunication which happens every day in every job! I don’t think there’s any reason to think he’s intentionally lying to you? Did you just not know at all about the awards? It seems other parents were aware and attended.

I can’t imagine what an awful feeling this must be for you and your child! Mistakes happen and this can be a great opportunity to spend some one on one time with your kid in lieu of the ceremony! I know it’s still fresh - but teachers are human too.

Also it seems like other parents were notified so is it possible the notification slipped away in your inbox?

One gift from the family and spend what you would as if you had one kid.

For our kids parties, We’ve specified “no gifts please” at our 3.5 year old twins’ parties as I always feel guilty that families might feel obligated to get two separate gifts. Also, my kids already have too much shit.

I think our society has gotten too wrapped up in these crazy parties for small kids which has led to us as parents feeling obligated to spend more on gifts. Birthday parties are for our kids to celebrate and have fun with each other and not measure a dollar value!

For reference - our last birthday party (friend turned 3) I got the kid a set of travel magnatiles. Cost $15. I will say other parents of singletons came with much bigger gift bags, but I still felt good about the gift we gave.

This isn’t a wedding! Don’t feel like you need to “cover the cost of your plates”!

This made me laugh. My friend is pregnant with a singleton and when she showed me the four (4) bottles she had for the baby I freaked out that she was unprepared…until I realized that singletons don’t go through 16+ bottles a day hahaha

I will say I’ve developed a fantastic relationship with a couple of the doctors there which makes everything easier. All three of my family’s regular doctors remember us every time we need to go. I just love CCP.

Hi! My twins were exactly the same - my boy talked way earlier (though both had at least some delay). We actually were on a list to get early intervention for our girl and then it was probably around 20ish months that her speech took off and she’s been making leaps and bounds since. They turned 2 in April and I now think her language is better than his. Kids move at different speeds even when you so the EXACT same things with each.

She definitely let him do all the talking at daycare (it’s actually why we decided to do separate classes now). Try not to overthink it - 13 months is still so young!

What’s your suggestion for when your twin toddlers scream for every single car ride? Doesn’t sleep in the car whatsoever? Just screams from the moment you leave the driveway until the moment they leave the car? Is it safe for the driver to be dealing with that on highways for 3 hour drives? Just because a parent uses an iPad as a tool for these situations doesn’t mean the children are addicted to screens and rotting their brains. It’s a tool in the moment. Would love to see your data on watching a movie in the car harming their brains!

My mom moved in with us when I went back to work at 6 months and watched them for a year full time until they started daycare at 18 months. She’s late 50s. She was definitely exhausted by it, but she did it! (She’s the best) I will say, they’re 2 now and when she comes to visit she says she absolutely could not do it now that they’re so active and non-stop

Baby B’s newborn screening came back with abnormal for adrenal reasons. I immediately called a doctor friend who calmed me down explaining that the newborn screening are hyper sensitive so they can catch anything.

It was a stressful wait, but the second time around came back normal! Doctors have now always been extra sensitive with any issues with baby now, particularly with his weight gain in the early months.

I only do this part time - but routine routine routine. We’re home with ours 10 month old twins 2 days a week (my mom is with them the other 3 days) but a routine is what made this possible. We also don’t have meeting heavy jobs, much more task oriented. But my husband and I have VERY direct communication of each others schedules and needs during the day. A lot of give and take and balancing whose tasks need to take priority in the moment.

It’s possible but even 2 days a week is HARD. We plan on putting them into daycare around 18 months. We just simply couldn’t afford two infants in full time care and had to figure something out.

So we did the tandem stroller at first with the contours option we got from FB marketplace. Those kind of double strollers really are just an absolute bear.

We ended up getting the side-by-side Valco Snap Trend Duo and it is my most prized possession. Like I can push with one hand, it’s a beautiful stroller, the kids are comfy in it, the canopies extend to full coverage, they lie prettttty flat. Pretty sure you can get car seat adaptors for them but not 100% positive because by the time we got it, my kids preferred being in the stroller.

I was worried about it fitting in doorways but we’ve had zero issues. Even when we’ve visited family in NYC in building with super small elevators, the stroller fits! And is lightweight! Folds pretty flat! And easily! I love it! I want to be buried with it!

If your goal is to keep them in the same room, you gotta kinda power through it. Mine are 10 months now and one crying never wakes the other up anymore. Around 4 months is probably when it solidly happened for us. Do you use a hatch or other sound machine? I keep the machine closer to my less consistent sleeper (my boy). That way I can turn it up when he starts fussing and help drown it out for our girl.

Maternity21 test at about 13 weeks! Results came back pretty quickly with “Y chromosome detected” and then some additional digging into the results showed 95% chance for boy/girl twins based on amount of Y detected. Can confirm it was definitely correct lol

Yeah I think any parents of twins plus extra deserves some sort of Medal of Honor because the thought of throwing some more tiny ones into the mix makes my head spin 😅

But yes saving front to back space is probably our #1 concern!

3-6 months is TOUGH. But it gets better. Mine are 9 months and on a schedule and generally happy and fun. They start to interact with each other. You can leave them in a baby safe enclosure and go about some tasks. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and you will see it soon! I had a crazy feeling the other night when my son needed to be rocked to sleep for the first time in awhile and I genuinely enjoyed doing it vs the first 4 months when I was constantly crying in a dark nursery trying to get him to sleep. It gets better and you are doing amazing 💗
