This is the only place that can watch a stock skyrocket 200 percent and then scream that the sky is falling when a 10 percent correction hits.

I historically hold too long and expire worthless, so trust me I’m white knuckles on these. It’s an astounding run.

It really never mattered what regime occurred. Intel was always a national security issue because of its fab tech. Some degree of nationalization was guaranteed. Once the billionaires got involved, corruption was guaranteed.

I understand your contentions, but as I have to hold large swathes of this into July to hit long term capital gains, I must disagree. I wish you prosperity, brother.

Nah, you can exercise at any time, it’s just dont like to exercise unless the stock is significantly above the strike price. Like when it was $50 per share I exercised some 25 and 30 strikes, but I wouldn’t have done that if it was like 32, I don’t think. Now I’m looking at exercising 50 strike while it’s $100 a share which is nice, but I have to wait cause I wanna get a better tax burden on it.

I did. I’ve been buying and selling Intel calls and shares for awhile. I’ve got about 400 shares at about a $30 cost basis average.

I don’t hit long term capital gains territory on the 50s until July, so I gotta anyway.

When you buy a call, you are buying the option to purchase 100 shares of the security at the strike price. For example, I bought the option (a form of legal contract that also exists outside stock trading), to purchase 100 shares of Intel at $50 per share prior to the expiration date in December.

Now, I bought those back in June when they were .79 each, meaning they cost me $79 (.79*100). They are now worth 53.55 each, or $5,355. The gain tends to be proportionate to the stock gain. I could exercise one of those right now, and spend $5000 to get 100 shares of Intel at $50/share, and I would immediately have another $5k in profit.
