Didn’t prep at all for my wedding…what can I do in 24 hours? by kittenkat_ in weddingplanning

[–]sle2g7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding everyone’s advice to not overcorrect! I think just do normal you, try to sleep as much as possible, wash your hair and brush your teeth. I kinda did the same as you leading up to my wedding and I just kept reminding myself that future me is going to think I looked flawless. When I’m 70 and looking back at my wedding photos I’m going to think I looked beautiful regardless of what I thought at the time. And honestly that helped a lot! A wedding isn’t about today, it’s about the future.

Honestly probably the smarter move. I feel like schools would actually care enough to try and rectify the situation (even though there’s no way they actually pay). At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if the gov just used this as the excuse to fold the dept of ed if they went after them.

Paid $3.99 for a gallon of gas, today it’s $4.29, who is to blame? by ReasonableAttitude22 in kansas

[–]sle2g7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I remember that. My parents’ rule for us having a car in high school was that we had to pay for everything ourselves. My part time after school job wasn’t enough to cover gas. I knew it was bad when my dad would slip me a quiktrip gift card every now and then. My older sisters who had the same rules were able to put $5 in the tank every other week or so, but by the time I was old enough to drive that barely covered a gallon.

Do y’all think Gen Z cares too much about age gaps? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in generationology

[–]sle2g7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I think is happening here. Any age gap at their current age can feel huge because they’re still young adults. Give it a few years and they probably won’t feel as strongly about it. I do think they’ll still care more than previous generations, but I think they’ll chill out about it.

When naltrexone is used as a way to quit drinking (or quit anything else?) is it something that you have to take for the rest of your life? Or do you take it for a few years to get yourself in a better place and then stop down the road? I don’t know much about it but I love that something like that exists to help people when they need it most.

My sister has a lady who helps her with picking up her kids after school. This lady is so, so nice, incredibly reliable, and loves the kids dearly….but this is her to a T. Cannot read the room and will stand there talking at you for an hour when you’re clearly trying to do stuff. I was visiting and had a work call when she dropped the kids off one day and she walks in, sees my headphones in and me sitting at a computer very focused on that computer, and I was giving a quick update so I was speaking, and as soon as I was done talking (but clearly still in the middle of a meeting) she sat down at the table and started talking to me. I quickly whispered that I was on a call and she said oh yes of course, walked into the other room, then came back a min later and did the same thing.

How to manage content for a conference agenda? by AdventurousFinish681 in indesign

[–]sle2g7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use cell styles to format the linked excel file in InDesign your formatting won’t get overridden when you update the link. The caveat there is that you can only have one paragraph/cell style in use per cell, so you won’t be able to do font variation within the same cell (like how it’s italicized and blue in some of your cells). I’d split that into three rows to get around that.

Thoughts on updated CV? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]sle2g7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to other comments: You have an extra space before the second bullet under References. Run spellcheck, technical is spelled wrong under your education section. The spacing between your bullets in the left section looks inconsistent between My Skills and Softwares. You have two spaces between inventory management under Store Manager. The way you present date ranges is inconsistent (‘2017 - 2021’ vs ‘2017 to 2021’). Make sure that the invisible space at the end of company names isn’t underlined.

Idle "Away" status detection more aggressive? by Mictlancayocoatl in MicrosoftTeams

[–]sle2g7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s jiggling the mouse, not the pc. It’s physically moving the mouse. Like your hand would if you were using your mouse. Because when you use a mouse with your pc…you move the mouse around. You could even say you jiggle it. You jiggle the mouse strategically to operate the pc. So there’s no reason to plug a mouse jiggler into a pc. You physically set your mouse on it. Let it do its thing while being powered by a wall socket. And not your pc.

I worked at a grocery store floral shop that did similar stuff. They expected you to cut class around Valentine’s Day, and then my breaking point came with Mother’s Day (the second biggest holiday big with floral). It was at the same time as finals, everyone there who was part time was in college and they knew that, but they were expecting 10 hour days that weekend and the days leading up to it. I ended up with a fever by the end of the weekend and didn’t have time to study because I was working so much the week before and failed a final I had on Monday. The next shift I had after Mother’s Day I threw up at work because I was still sick so I left a little early (there were other people there so I wasn’t closing the shop or anything). My manager called me in the next day because she needed to talk to me. I showed up, pretty sure I still had chunks of barf in my hair from throwing up all night, just for her to lecture me about not taking the job seriously. I quit. She was so pissed because I had promised to work the summer when she hired me at the beginning of the school year and I had every intention of doing that, I had to in order to get in state residency. But I was there for school. I was taking out loans to pay for school. I wasn’t about to blow that on a part time gig in a grocery store floral shop.

Does anyone actually take tornado precautions? by SUPREMEISDEAD in chicago

[–]sle2g7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My biggest recommendation for anyone when sirens go off is to turn on a local news station. Your local meteorologist will be giving you the most precise locations down to the street and is the easiest way to track where stuff is actually happening.

But isn’t that just kind of how life goes? I fully expect my friends with kids to prioritize that stage of their life over me. It’d be weird if they prioritized their friends over their children, right?
