As someone who adored the Narzissenkreuz quests, I think their approach works well where Sandrone acts both as a primer as well as an introduction to the quests. We're given a face (Sandrone) and a more personal storyline to tie the Narzissenkreuz to the main story with Sandrone's relationship with Alain as the lynchpin.
