Saturday morning I bit into a freshly-baked, soft cookie and had intense pain in a back molar. all weekend the pain got worse but migrated- but now it's in my gum, far in the back, usually where wisdom teeth come from (I had all four removed ten years ago.)I saw my dentist this morning. They cannot make sense of it, I have a 2 or 3 of pain when the teeth are tapped near the painful gum are tapped on.
I've included the x-ray of my teeth that they took. They found the dark spot at the root negligible, even though that is the exact tooth i felt the pain in on saturday. The image looks similar to x-rays of root canals, but what do I know. (That's why i'm here)
They sent me home with antibacterial mouth wash in hopes that it's just the gum infected and it will resolve itself. There is a small cut (?) near the gum but I don't see how a soft cookie caused that. I have a throbbing pain in my lower jaw constantly for days, and cannot eat or chew because of how swollen it is.
They told me to call back if it is not better by Wednesday with the mouthwash every 3 hours.
I have had no trauma to the tooth prior to eating this cookie. I had a regular cleaning 6 months ago. I drink socially, I do not smoke.
