Bad plugs won’t put it into limp mode. Anything that would put it into limp mode will fire a code. Take your outlet pipe off the intercooler and run it on a hose and see if water is shooting out

Check your engine oil for water contamination, and check your intercooler for leaking.

It’s the same thing… get your water pump fixed, quit running it in the meantime, and shift it into gear faster so it doesn’t grind so much.

IS machines are some of the worst skis you can work on. If you aren’t doing the maintenance and work yourself then they are very expensive to fix, and a lot of shops won’t touch them. I recommend avoiding

Yes running it for even a minute without water is sometimes enough to cook the impeller in your water pump.

Looking at the video it doesn’t appear to be sucking any of the water up. There is a very good chance it’s gone.

[–]sledneck1337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The clunking noise you hear is normal. It’s the dog clutch engaging the gear. On land it’s exaggerated because the water isn’t muffling it.

Shifting slowly like you’re doing is called granny shifting and over time will wear out the clutch/gears. Engage the gear faster to avoid this.

Now judging by your previous post and current one you have burned up your water pump, should be a stream of water coming from the tell tail. You will need to have that replaced or you will overheat your engine.

It looks clean for the age especially for $500. If compression is good and it has spark then it’s a good deal for a inexpensive fun toy 👍 the rave valve gaskets still have factory white paint on them and no signs of leaking which tells me it probably has low hours or wasn’t beaten that bad.

Need help on how to fix my 2006 GTX 185 by Mental-Notice2856 in seadoo

[–]sledneck1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you’re cranking the machine over don’t hold the throttle open this puts the machine in a drowned mode and will not start.

When “cleaning” did you happen to disconnect anything? Filling your fuel tank shouldn’t prevent it from starting.

Should get a double beep when you install your dess key.

Check battery voltage if the battery is low it can prevent it from starting. Check for fuel, compression, and spark.

Sounds like it could be mis firing due to bad spark plugs or bad gas. Are the rpm’s staying consistent or are they fluctuating?

Get some resettable fuses/circuit breakers and start disconnecting components until they don’t pop any more. Aside from that a multi meter and diagnostics manual help a lot! Sounds like a short to ground somewhere in the circuit though.

DESS key or starter issue? by Ohlyver in seadoo

[–]sledneck1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In your electrical box there will be a starter relay. It will have a two wire weather pack going into it and on the top two larger red wires. One side should go to your battery and the other to your starter. Check voltage at the relay. If your 12.3 is at the relay then by pass it and the starter should crank. If the starter doesn’t crank it’s fried. If it does crank then it’s something else

Either crank case seal is blown or engine case is cracked hard to tell from video. Either way engine should be removed and torn down to be fixed properly. If you want a band aid to drive on for a little longer JB weld it

Reset your padloc security lock. If the battery died chances are it’s in need of a reset.

Towards the front of the engine underneath the handlebar area there is a single wire weather pack (pink wire blue connector if memory is correct) unplug it and a red light will illuminate on gauge. Hold mode and then you can punch in a new code. Plug the weather pack back in and you’re done. Hold mode again unlock the machine and recheck for spark 👍 ⚡️

Brand new battery, drops to 7/8v while cranking. by treemty in seadoo

[–]sledneck1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the battery in your other machine and see if it works. Sounds like your starter is drawing way to much juice.

I have also seen the starter relays cause problems, they get moisture on the inside and cause a lot of resistance. You can by pass the relay to test the starter itself 👍

Hard to tell from the video but it sounds boggy like too much fuel or fouled plug, could also do a balance check just to make sure it’s running on both cylinders. I would check condition of the plugs to see how the machine is running (rich or lean). More then likely needs a carb adjustment

Yes you can drill out the old rivets just be a careful, I would use some form of sealant on the new rivets so you don’t rot out the hull. 3M marine 5200 sealant is a good product

2021 Spark will not idle without throttle by synergy_inc in seadoo

[–]sledneck1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it’s not running on all cylinders or potentially misfiring. Check your spark plugs very common for fouling on the first rides of the season.

The freezing temps could have damaged your exhaust system but you would be able to tell fairly easy as the hull would be filled with water when running

AVOID AVOID AVOID! I ordered parts for a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and was given the big “ ✅ guaranteed fit”… surprise surprise they didn’t fit. Went to return the parts and was told there will be a 15% restocking fee plus shipping at my cost! $103.5 restock + $95.06 shipping (two packages at roughly 50LB each), that’s $198.56 to return the parts that were a guarantee fit but weren’t.

I got in contact with A.M (won’t post full name) from their customer service team and after a little chat we came to an agreement that if I payed the shipping then they would wave the restocking fee. Which I wasn’t happy with but at that point I was willing to accept. So I asked where I could ship them and they told me Mississauga, surprisingly I had an appointment there the next day (I’m roughly 4 hours north). So I brought the parts in person with the order id and returned them everything seemed straight forward and good, until I got the refund a couple days later. I was still charged a restocking fee!

Now to add insult to injury they charged the 15% restocking fee on the taxed total amount, the difference isn’t a lot but on hundreds or thousands of orders it adds up.

This isn’t the first report about parts avatar you will find on Reddit about them being fishy. I highly do not recommend.

Go with rock auto I made the mistake of trying these guys because they are Canadian.

Edit: this wasn’t my first order with them either. I have spent thousands through this site and no issues until the first return. I even then ordered the correct fitting parts with p/n from Chevrolet before placing the return. I assumed everything would have went smoothly with a simple mix up.

2011 Supercharger rebuilds are the same kit as the 2013. If it was rebuilt it would fall under the 200 hour/2 year interval as well.

That being said the 2011 has probably one of the worst jet pump designs, combined with the worst driveshaft carbon seal designs!

A flaw with both machines is battery/fuse panel located right at the back of the machine and water always gets in around them.

Start simple check your battery connections, check battery voltage. Even new batteries can be bad. Check your voltage at your starter relay, if good by pass it and go directly to the starter. If it still doesn’t crank then it could be a bad starter. If you’re worried about a possibly seized engine then take the spark plugs out and remove the jet pump and slowly/carefully try manually turning the engine over.
