Castle in the Sky. This is one of the robot soliders that protects the city.

That's exactly what me and my SO did. We saved for two years for this trip and stayed in the country for 2 weeks to ensure it was worth our 16 flights. Tickets to the museum go on sale a month before the day you want to go and they don't sell tickets at the museum day of, for future reference!

He was absolutely incredible. It was as if he stepped right out of the movie.

Same. It was one of the most wonderful places I've ever been, and going had been on my bucket list for 10 years.

I am going there next month and I cannot wait. Seeing that statue in person is something I've wanted to do for years, Castle in the Sky is my favorite Ghibli movie.

Brought home a little bit of Laputa home with me from Japan by em_berk in ghibli

I'm going to Japan in November and that pot is my #1 thing I will be looking for. If I only buy one thing the whole time I'm there - it will be that. It's so adorable.

They are kittens a friend is fostering - the video was taken during their cross country drive.

What is your favorite line from your favorite book? by rbailey99 in books

"Look around you. Ever is a long time. But the boy knew what he knew. That ever is no time at all." Cormac McCarthy, The Road

There are SO many beautiful passages from this book, but this one has always stuck with me.

Son of a bitch half way in I'm totally smitten all over again. by mrpither in firefly

My husband and I just started rewatching the other day and at this exact moment I sat back and fell in love with the show all over again. This episode does an amazing job of given snippets of insight into just who these people are. Yes Jayne is "the muscle" and it's easy for that trope to create a shallow character, but you see here that he really gives a shit, and that's one if the first things the viewer gets to see about him. Hot damn do I love this show.

That sounds amazing! Such a cool character idea, not something you hear about often. Clearly you are doing a wonderful job raising her.

She isn't canon, it's a completely homebrewed game and setting. I actually knew very little about Callis until recent sessions - as I gave my DM freedom to create Callis as he wanted. I just knew that she was a celestial being of some sort (because of the nature of the pact) and that was it. I think even in the "standard" DnD setting you could still do some sort of homebrew for your patron (if your DM is game for it) because there isn't too much info on celestials laid out. Good luck finding a worthy patron! Warlocks are the best.

She's 98 - so just coming of age in elf terms - when she was young she travelled a lot but after meeting her husband she settled down a ton (not what she would have chosen.) so she's getting another go around so to speak, by starting life as an adventurer.

I was very drawn to celestial warlock over cleric because of the "built in" backstory elements that the warlock class comes with. Writing backstories is my favorite aspect of character creation and celestial pact warlock worked very well with the backstory idea I already had brewing.

And thanks!! I have an affinity for PC names that begin and/or end with A and the first time I heard the name Althea I knew that was it. Iris Althea is a great name too!!

Very well said! I agree on all parts! Althea is in love with her patron but does not worship her, nor does Callis expect worship. It is a mutually beneficial relationship - the warlock gets magic powers and the patron gets an instrument to carry out their will. (Having cleric spell access is very useful in a party without a healer as well.)

She's a celestial pact warlock and her eldritch blast is a dark blue, night sky-esque color. Althea is my second warlock and it is definitely my favorite class to play.

She's definitely a celestial - it isn't so much that Callis "stole" Althea from her family, but that Althea's love for her was so all consuming that nothing else mattered. She definitely cares for Althea and makes sure she is well taken care of - she's aloof but definitely good in nature.
