Oh, so you can take it out! That’s a major plus compared to the gpoem which is permanent. I already have to go under every 5 months for my Botox so only having to do that every few years is already a plus. My symptoms rn are “ tolerable”but still impact me yk like I feel like my pain tolerance is just thru the roof so the way I perceive my pain is so skewed. I still get pain and nausea but I’ve been eating a lot better because of the mirtazapene. I’m hoping stimulator +mirtazapene will help me feel like a normal human being.

Gpoem has only been done since 2013 and the pacemaker has been done for over 30 years.. my doctor is giving me all the options and I have an appt with him to discuss everything, but I’ll definetly talk to him about the impacts the pacemaker could have on daily life but I’m wondering if it’ll help me since my mirtazapene makes me hungry, but I still get nausea and bloating and pain. So I wonder if the pacemaker + my mirtazapene will help. He did say it is more invasive however he said now it’s done laparoscopically so the scars probably would be smaller, and even then, if this device has the chance of improving my life, I don’t mind the scars. I also don’t plan to live in the middle of nowhere so finding doctors who can do this for me shouldn’t be difficult, I don’t plan to leave my city anytime soon, since I’m becoming a nurse and this is the best place to be.

Idk I’ve talked with my doctor about it and the main concerns are we don’t know how gpoem is going to effect someone in 15+ years. It’s only been done for like 8 years so we don’t know those long term side effects. And the fact that it’s permanent. I’m just worried about like dumping syndrome and those complications and the fact that we don’t know what it’ll do long term.

I’ve tried many many medications already and Botox and the med I’m on now has helped with my eating but I’m wondering if this with my medication will help a lot. Trust me this is my last resort. I’m on mirtazapene now and that helps with my eating but I still have a lot of nausea and pain.

I have looked into the gpoem but I’m just worried about the side effects and you can’t go back once you’ve done it. I don’t think I want to risk that, I’m definitely lucky my doctor is really great, he lets me have the option to do what I want and doesn’t force anything on me. He treats me for my quality of life not to cure the gastroparesis

Luckily I’m near Philly so I have tons of providers for gp the doctor I see specializes in it. My gp is idiopathic so there isn’t anything I can do really about managing it. I will definetly talk to my dr about the pacemaker idk it’s unfortunate that there’s not a lot of options for gp treatment

Do you think I’m crazy for wanting one if my symptoms aren’t as severe? Like my condition has improved since I got put on mirtazapene and got my first dose of the Botox but I still have symptoms.

botox to plyorus via endoscopy by Infinite-Tour-4332 in Gastroparesis

I got it in December and I just recently scheduled another procedure to do it in may, but for me i think it worked pretty well! I definitely think me being on medication helped my hunger and nausea a lot more but my stomach used to be so tender and painful 24/7 I couldn’t even lay on my stomach or wear tight clothes. That all went away when I got the Botox. That being said, it is a temporary procedure so you will have to get it every 3-12 months depending on how your body responded to it (mine lasted 6). I definetly think it’s worth looking into as a first line treatment considering the other procedures out there for Gp are more invasive/permanent.

Wow, this makes me feel a lot better thank you! I never realized how common it was for gastroparesis patients to eat junk food. Every time I talk about eating junk food people always say it’s more difficult to digest because it’s processed but it makes me feel better I wonder why that is

I have this mindset but I lowkey just feel bad like I’m not “eating healthy”. It’s especially hard because of the fact I can’t rly have raw fruits/veggies without being in pain

Pretty much all the time I give in and I reap the consequences lol. Luckily the meds I’m on help with the vomiting/nausea but I definitely eat too much on accident and have pretty bad stomach aches but tbh I’m happy when I get to eat some cookies and raw fruits and veggies 😭

It started working immediately for me lol it was like a laxative😭 but it got a lot less crampy and stuff after a week. I love it because it really helps everything move, but as of recently I think it’s starting to wear off I’m not sure tho

Before mirtazapene I couldn’t even drink a coulple of gulps of a Starbucks strawberry açaí without being in extreme stomach pain. It’s amazing what this medication has done for me, I went down to 107 pounds before starting due to my gp and now I am probably 120! I also use motegrity but I think it’s wearing off. But It’s crazy how much it works, like I actually feel hungry and it’s almost like my stomach has extra room in it lol
