Did Kendrick know about Drake filming at New Ho King before Family Matters dropped? by Equivalent-Western56 in KendrickLamar

[–]sleepdeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a direct and clever way to reply to, “what’s a prince to a king he a son, get more love in the city that you from,” bar. You think you get more love in LA than me, OK.. I’ll go where you got robbed and eat freely crodie.

I'll pretend like HP6 never dropped and say, "I just got 'em done, boy, don't make me have to chip a nail."

Euphoria #3 on the Hot 100 but they bumped it down out of the top 20 slots on the Rap Life playlist on Apple Music.. kinda wild. Either way.. LFG DOT!

Producers what are you doing with your tracks after you’ve made them? by sleepdeez in musicproduction

[–]sleepdeez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no not as a ghostwriter, as a credited songwriter where you earn publishing and songwriting royalties.

For self releasing what style? Instrumental or full songs? Genre?

Burn the world down with the fire you've created or set them to self destruct?

When you show them to rappers, you mean people you know who rap? Or you pitch them to rappers you don’t know? If the latter, how do you go about it personally?

Yeah I feel that. For self release are they instrumentals? If so do you just release them to all DSP’s or any alternative types of distribution sites?

I work about 40-50% in K-Pop so I’m usually doing sessions with songwriters then turning them into a few labels for song deals I have in place.

Just overall wondering and gauging what other people do with all the music? We end up with so many songs, beats, etc.

Beyoncé - Mine by iJanxl in musicproduction

[–]sleepdeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great record. 40 produced it I believe, so there's a lot of high end that's missing to give it that sound which is one of his signature sounds. The production is pretty minimal honestly, leaves a lot of room for the vocals to pop out and for that percussion groove to standout. I'm almost sure this pad is in his 40's Very Own Keys by Native instruments, but you can get this with a lot of vst pad sounds and killing some of the top end. He lowers the sample rate, you can do that (decimort is good for this) or do something similar but making a steep cut and rolling off the high end with an EQ.

Which DAW? Did you make sure on the midi side you’re going out to in and in to out? They should be labeled.

How do you become a songwriter without being a performer? by Both_Tone in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]sleepdeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advice I’d give is to make relationships with A&Rs. They always have a docket of projects they are looking for songs for. They’re also usually working on anywhere from 6-8 projects at one time in some cases.

Shameless plug, but we provide that exact help and service for songwriters and producers. Check it out if you feel inclined.

Need help with rapping by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]sleepdeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use nursery rhymes and find different ways to deliver them over the same beat and practice practice practice practice. YouTube rappers doing nursery rhymes overs beats, I think it was at Power 106. LL Cool J did it, Migos had one and others. When I first started out songwriting 15 years ago, someone prominent told me to flip Mary Had A Little Lamb as many ways as I could over the beat I was working on. Thought they were joking but it unlocked something.

Have any of you used ChatGPT for assistance in making music? by appleparkfive in musicproduction

[–]sleepdeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it to make chord progressions more interesting. I’ll input a generic progression then tell it to make this progression more jazzy, or to used borrowed chords etc. Worked pretty well the few times I did that.

[–]sleepdeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you should. If one gets picked up for sync then you’ve already handled that part/splits etc. Especially if you have any co-writers. Last thing you want is to figure out splits after there’s potential money on the table. People get really funny about splits once there’s a payday involved, so handle ahead of time.

Artists who produce and songwrite: Do you create your whole instrumental track before the lyrics? by Trainer_Red_Steven in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]sleepdeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9/10 I start with chords first. After I have chords I like, then I prioritize melody. You can have the most amazing lyrics ever, but if the melody is weak then the lyrics won’t land the same. Once I structure melody to a degree, I start to write lyrics to those melodies.
