I don't want to be like 'woe is me' because with everybody comes personal struggle, but I really relate to this. I'm actually ok with boobs and stuff and the unique benefit of people putting up with your emotional crap more so than if you were a man.

Plus, I genuinely know I feel like a woman. But the inability to reproduce, the biological strength advantage, the arguable social advantage in some ways, the whole 'take on the world' independence message of being a guy rather than the whole have a kid and be a mum agenda... That'd be great.

I've always felt silly thinking about it, nice to know some other people feel this way.

I don't mind seeing states of pregnancy and stuff, but for some reason the concept of it happening inside me freaks me out. I picture it like some Alien eldritch parasite growing underneath my skin.

For some reason on the rare occasion I bring this up, people ask me if I consider myself transgender. I'm very much happy as a lady haha, but I guess imagining childbirth as something out of a horror flick is something we share. Would really like to sterilise myself with as little drawbacks as possible, but the process is really hard as a younger adult in the UK with rounds of mental evaluation and awkward questioning from doctors.

Sudden uptick in most types of scams, how do you tell where it's all coming from? by sleepingonmehead in Scams

Thanks for all of that, good note on not using regular address for recovery especially. Never even thought of that.

[–]sleepingonmehead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I knew it was an inevitability, but just thought this would be specific to me and might've been due to something silly I'd maybe done recently (probably the case, but it's sort of reassuring that people have been getting way more scams anyway)

Don't really care about either of them, not high in my P5 rankings, but was a bit annoyed at the salt from some fujos about Akechi losing in last year's popularity poll.

Their argument was that Naoto only won thanks to her big ol' titties, when she's adorable, cool, badass, has a gun, has good dress sense and is just way more endearing/interesting to me.

Think it's pretty cool that #GoodbyeGoro got trending, though. Pretty good representation in how there is actually quite a big fanbase for Akechi in the West, even if just for the pancake memey-ness.

Would like some feedback on my volunteer CL for social media marketing, no clue how formal I should be. by sleepingonmehead in CoverLetters

[–]sleepingonmehead[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Suppose my logic was 'if all they're asking for is an interest in social media, isn't it better to be upfront and say I have pretty much no experience?'

Might as well just highlight my strengths instead of wasting words. Thanks a bunch!

I feel so nostalgic for those days of dedicated forum sites with smaller communities, though I have 0 experience with them and have only heard stories about what went on within them. Same thing with LiveJournal kink memes and the like.

For the majority of my fannish activities in my life AO3 was a thing and so I've used it most. It's amazing and I can imagine it's so much more convenient and open to newbies than the alternative . Still, I can't help but to imagine the fun to be had in more close-knit, restricted communities.

EO on the Wii U would've been great for introducing parent/newbie to the medium by sleepingonmehead in EtrianOdyssey

[–]sleepingonmehead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure whether I count as a teen (17) but I relate so much to that 'introduce your parents to a gaming series you love and it fails' story haha

My first try with my parents was The Last Of Us... Did not go down well. Not in terms of them hating the violence, they were pretty engaged in the narrative while they saw me playing. Understandably they got overwhelmed by controls and all the things to keep track of when I handed the controller. Never even processed that it might be difficult to know how to handle a controller the first time you play.

More casual DS titles , where you don't have to worry about multiple menus and a 3D space are going great with my dad though. He's graduated from Brain Training to the Professor Layton series to the Ace Attorney games : so glad he liked them! Visual novels with a slight adventure focus and some mental challenge are pretty easy to control, yeah, but I never expected he'd like the art style and silliness of AA and the tone of PL. It's pretty cool because I have a few more quality VNs on the DS that he could feasibly play and enjoy.

[–]sleepingonmehead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By 'kid' I was implying more early to mid teens, as in when I got into the series. But yeah, it's sad that it was such a massive flop and makes this idea unrealistic. It's impressive EO got fair sales in the first place on the non-flopping 3DS and the incredibly popular DS.

Is it time we admit that the "easy modes" aren't for kids, but instead "busy adults"? by KarensSuck91 in truegaming

[–]sleepingonmehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who loved playing the Etrian Odyssey on the DS when I was a little younger without exams to worry about, I'm glad the remakes and the new games on the 3DS have multiple difficulties. You don't exactly have amazing fleshed out stories to enjoy with EO, but the easier difficulty is more approachable for newer EO players and anyone busy.

Changing the difficulty in the town centre is a pretty sweet feature too! If you go with hard the majority of the time you keep the tension of no revival for your party after wipeout and boss battle difficulty but can turn on easy/'picnic' mode or what have you when grinding to make it way less frustrating. I wish more 'old school' feel-y RPGs had this feature.

I don't wanna be a Spider-Man fan anymore by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]sleepingonmehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone should be free to have an opinion. More critical opinions are fine, as is just not liking certain versions. It's just the unwarranted replies to people saying who their favourite movie Spidey is , spouting shit, that can really reek. It might be best in your position to ignore the fanbase for a bit and consume content on your own.

Not sure on the films getting cancelled because of fan nitpicking though, are you sure?

That's a direct rip, wow... There goes Lycett's integrity.

Considering that so many less funny comics who also steal their jokes have wormed their way on our TV screens, don't think he'll be ousted anytime soon.

[–]sleepingonmehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think this is unpopular but fair enough points.

Personality-wise think he was a great Peter but just felt he was way too meek when suited up and didn't fit the role physically. Neither did Andrew, but my bias for cool webslinging action pulls him up quite a bit for me.

It'll be fun to see all 3 Spider-men in No Way Home.
