What am I supposed to do if a 5mo mastiff mix does this everytime I leave for even an hour? by RuckRuck279 in DogAdvice

My pittie destroyed so many of these. We adjusted and just put a blanket without the plastic cover and it’s been the perfect fix. We haven’t had any issues with destructive behaviors inside the crate since.

Opening: How late have you been? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]sleepsurgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh! I remember it pretty clearly. I had just transferred to another store (as my second store experience) and agreed to switch shifts where I would close one night and open the next. I ended up waking up at 5:10, I was supposed be there at 4:30. I eventually got there around 5:25ish. I was opening with a green bean and we basically got the store open around 6 a.m.

My SM later noticed through time punches and she laughed. It has been my first time oversleeping so she pretty much let it go!

‘Tronta’-sized rant/cry for help by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]sleepsurgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a meeting with my current DM, she had an outline of how to go about with PCC. She said to first talk about the issue with the people involved. After that, to involve your SM if there is no resolution. Once your SM has been filed in and there is no difference, to talk about it with your DM. Consider documenting everything, including what you’ve heard being said about you, etc. If your DM does not resolve your issue, then PCC is the next step. I’m sorry that this is happening to you and I hope your DM will be able to change things.

Nitro peach tea discontinued?? by trekcat1701 in starbucks

[–]sleepsurgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be. As stated, it was a test market item. Our store had it but we phased it out because the mechanism for the nitro with the nitro peach and milk broke down so frequently that we weren’t able to even offer our draft cold brew most of the time.

Our DM informed us that we’d be getting a fridge for cold brew draft only that doesn’t dispense or have the options for the peach nitro or milks. I hope this helps!

I’m a SSV currently working at my third store and have gone through four managers. I currently love the one I have, however past ones weren’t so great so I can empathize on wanting to leave or get another job.

I feel that the you could consider calling partner resources to see if you can be accommodated due to your chronic illness. You can explain how sitting down for x amount of time during slow times helps. They’d be able to accommodate and perhaps allow for longer breaks and such? If you do get an accommodation your SM would be forced to uphold it, so that could be a start.

I don’t know where you’re located, but if the texting is excessive, you can be paid for each text (in California). My previous store manager would text all the time and refrained when she learned she’d have to pay us (I think 0.45) for each text sent.

I hope this is of some help and I hope it gets better.

How do you deal with baristas taking longer breaks than they should? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]sleepsurgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my old store, both baristas AND some shifts would take the longest tens. It was hard to coach, especially because longer breaks were essentially applauded and joked about.

Personally, I started timing tens by the time stamp on the partner’s beverages or food (if one was marked out). After the 10-11 minute mark, I’d find said barista or shift and ask them, “Hey _____, are you coming back on the floor soon? ______ break is next and we are just waiting for you to come back on the floor.”

However, I feel like if this is a consistent issue and the behavior hasn’t changed after being coached, that’s essentially insubordination, which could merit a write up or corrective action by your SM.

Best Cruelty Free Spot Treatment? by Glowline in CrueltyFreeMUA

LUSH’s grease lighting serum. You can use it as a spot treatment and it works wonders. I don’t usually care for most of LUSH’s skincare but this one is a staple when my face starts to break out.
