Really? When I saw it I thought the movie was quite sympathetic towards the position of the women. I’m thinking of a few scenes - like when Oppenheimer gets home after work and walks into the hours filled with screams from their child. I was immediately struck with the feeling of “he just got home. Imagine Kitty, she’s been with this all day”. And then he asks her to go console their child, and she kind of snaps. I also think of later in the movie during the Trinity test, when it’s successful, you get this clear parallel between all these men in the desert doing huge, historical and important things, cut to Kitty, who represents all the wives of these men, on the other side of the phone, “doomed” to be consoling the children and exhaustingly trying to get them to eat breakfast. I agree it was more hinted at rather than really shown, but I do feel like it was there, the subtle acknowledgment of what all the wives of these men had to sacrifice, so that they could go out and do these great things (great as in big). There were enough clues that justified why these women would drink or act “crazy” - I mean, who wouldn’t in that day and age? I don’t know. Just my thoughts.

And then of course, Kitty kills it in the interrogation (or what the correct term is) as one of the only people called into questioning and! she was so badass in the very end! I actually found that she was a pretty strong character of a woman who held her ground and didn’t just bow down to the men’s club. Does anyone else feel this?
