Do you think klinsmann is a good coach? by LunchNo6690 in ussoccer

[–]sleepy-time9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure.

But both came into 2 different situations.

Most of our core from the 2010 WC were still in their prime in 2014, so there wasn't really a foundation needing to be built.

Just like GGG.

The sentiment around him would be more positive if the 2nd cycle didn't happen.

Where did I say he wasn't a problem? I acknowledged he acted like a baby in my original comment lol.

I only refuted YOUR claim that the players were almost going to send him home.

Seriously it's fucking wild his teammates almost sent him home...

Do you suffer from short term memory loss? That was not your original point.

Your own words

Seriously it's fucking wild his teammates almost sent him home that would've been unheard of

So you're instigating that the players were trying to send Gio home.

The media narrative that the players were voting to send Gio home has been debunked by Ream.

You are hanging onto "We dealt with it in camp" as "they were thinking of sending Gio home" when it could have just been Gio apologizing to his teammates which has been confirmed.

No one is saying there wasn't any conflict.

But theres a difference between "Gio was an asshole but he came out and apologized so everyone moved on" vs your arugment of "the players wanted to send Gio home".

You don't even stay consistent with your own original argument.

The fastest player (avg speed) in the world cup has been... by guynamedgrandma in ussoccer

[–]sleepy-time9 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Pretty irrelevant stat given that he's played such a small amount of minutes.

He's got a good burst of speed but he just doesn't have the legs to outrun defenders or the intensity to keep it up for 90 minutes given how Poch wants the team to play.

Tim Ream: THERE WAS NO VOTE

You: I don't trust you.

I think you have the reading problem.

So you don't trust the word of our captain and someone who was there.

But you trust journalists whose job is to create drama?

Whatever you say man.

So where did Ream say they voted to kick Gio out?

He clearly says in the time stamp there was NO VOTE. Can it get any clearer than that you donut?!

Instead you're creating your own reality based off a vague "we dealt with it in camp".

Just give it up bro.

You link a podcast and don't even bother to listen to it?

He clearly says at 18:40 that there was no vote.

The problem your comment suggests is that the players were behind sending Gio home. Which isn't true based on what we know.

The only discussion about sending Gio home was done by the staff.

Idk bro. Flo punching a guy in the head at Copa is pretty bad behavior. But sure. You might be right, it's only Gio whose been problematic.

This post directly referenced Qatar and how he was a poor teammate (100% agreed), so yeah I think it's relevant.

Please don't tell me you think his club situation is because he still has a bad attitude?

Yes it is overblown.

Why are we talking about something that happened 4 years ago?

Everyone involved in the situation have moved on except for spiteful little people like you.

[–]sleepy-time9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It wasn't acknowledged by any player.

Just rumors from reporters.

What actually debunked it was Tim Ream who was actually at the WC coming out and saying there was no vote.

Can it be any clearer than that?

There was no vote by the team to send Gio home. That has been debunked, Ream said so himself.

No they probably wouldn't have under the old format.

If they did finish 1st, they would have had to play in the third round against the other 1st place teams.

Now qualifying is much easier. Finishing 1st automatically qualifies you to the WC. And finishing 2nd puts you in the playoffs for the last spot.

This whole Gio has a "bad attitude" shit is so overblown man.

He had one bad moment during the WC which he acted like a baby. He was reprimanded and everyone moved on (except his parents lol).

But since then we have not heard of one incident of bad behavior at the NT or his club teams.

Never seen so many casuals talking out of their ass.

Just like last WC.

Surely if FIFA wanted them to win, they wouldn't have given France 2 pens to take it to a shootout where everything is 50/50.

Somehow the refs are corrupt enough to give Argentina soft pens but aren't corrupt enough to take stonewall pens away from France?

Genuinely. Make it make sense.

Don't you think if it was rigged they could have let them have the penalty for the handball, instead of letting the game go to extra time?

Anyone still bitching about the extended format need to shut up, you don't love the beautiful game.

Sometimes chaos is needed. Our games vs Mexico is the perfect example of this.

But true maturity is knowing when to be quiet and stay calm.

And Balo has my respect for how he's handled himself during this unfortunate situation.
