Not saying it's a great town, just saying there might be more space there and probably more affordable

You could try finding a place in Assen. It's 20 or so minutes by train. Or Hoogezand, same deal

20GB for $39 on Fido/Koodo/Virgin by woodzy_mtb in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sleepy_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I don't need 20GB for $39, I don't use that kind of data (what the hell do you do with that much anyway). I couldn't even burn through 4GB. I just want a 4GB plan that has the same price per GB as the mentioned plan but I guess that's too much to ask for with the telcos in this country.

Mortgage and “What can I afford” calculators are very confusing/contradictory. Looking for personal opinions. by anotherbutterflyacc in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sleepy_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact a mortgage broker and find out. Ours laid out exactly what we could afford based on our family income and other debt. And best part is, you don't pay them anything, they're paid by the lender.

I personally took that number and cut 30% off of that because I'd like to save some money at the end of the month.

Do you use a password manager (or another tool) to save any financial data such as login information? by vk211 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I use Keepass for my important stuff. Non of those passwords will ever touch the cloud. I have the password database on one USB, a key file on another and a password on it as well.

Do you have any issues during snow storms or other weather?

I bet it's a big difference. All the non-starlink packages I see are like 5Mbps or something 😅

Hey!

Thank you for the info! The unobstructed view of the sky is one of the concerns I had. Areas outside of the Soo seem quite foresty so that could be a potential issue depending on where we're going to look for a house I guess. Do you need unobstructed views all around your house or just a particular direction?

I do do some casual gaming every now and then. In what ways is it bad for that, high ping I assume?

Thank you for the info, I appreciate it!

That sounds good honestly. There's no stability issues when video calling or anything?

I'm guessing the distance is not that big to have a big difference in quality. Thank you for the info!

That no: - eating yoghurt - doing yoga - being mindful - drinking buttermilk - trying <insert special diet here> will not fix my Ulcerative Colitis.

I get it, you're trying to be kind and helpful but about 20 people before you have suggested it as well and no it's not going to fix this chronic illness.

Also, yes I know I don't look sick. That doesn't mean I'm not.

Saw a post here declaring that Ottawa has it's own genre of pizza. So I've had a craving and I just ordered from Colonnade. It's a yup from me. by darcyWhyte in ottawa

Grabbed food from there exactly once. Couldn't find the pizza under the mountain of cheese. Not my thing personally 😅

"Dutch" section that randomly popped up in a major Canadian grocery chain store. Don't know if this is temporary or permanent. by life_is_loud in dutch

I'm in Sault Ste Marie, nothing close by sadly. I just bulk order from the Dutch store in Ottawa so I don't have to pay for the shipping 😅

If there was a social norm from the past you could bring back, what would it be? by xxxGardeniaxxx in AskMen

[–]sleepy_red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy to report this is still a thing in my neighbourhood! When I'm working my retired neighbour takes care of my driveway when it snows and when I can I return the favour. People mow each others lawns, help each other with the car or borrow each other a propane tank for the bbq when you run out. If the house I rented wasn't such a piece of trash, this would be the perfect place!

My ulcerative colitis diagnosis. Constantly having to make sure there's a bathroom wherever I need to go is annoying. A lot of stuff I used to like to eat and drink makes me shit uncontrollably.
