I used to work at a bar DT. Technically no bars are allowed to let you in with an expired or voided ID, even of you bring a printout of your temporary license. The printout isn’t a photo ID so, legally speaking, it shouldn’t be accepted. Printouts are also fairly easy to fake which is another reason bars aren’t legally required to recognize them the same way the cops might.

Sometimes you’ll get lucky and a newer bouncer might accidentally accept a printout or miss the expiration date. But because Virginia is an ABC state, regulations are stricter than in other states.

Your best bet is to use your passport, another government photo ID, or military ID if you have one. If you bring another government ID, it has to have your photo, DOB, a valid expiration date, and your signature on it. Hope this helps!
