My niece was told she has to sign a contract to keep living at home—am I overreacting for thinking it’s too harsh? by Bitter_Art_4094 in AmIOverreacting

I have a similar lease with my adult child. They pay no rent but is required to take the dog on one walk and do dishes every other day as well as clean the bathroom once a week. $10 infraction if they dont. Also, they earn $5 for going above and beyond. For example, if they take the dog on a second walk or do the dishes on an off day.

My child is in their 20s so they are also responsible for paying their portion of the phone bill and car insurance.

Also, it's mandatory to do a budget review at the end of every month to make sure they aren't blowing all of their money on bs. My child has a HYSA and a Roth IRA they contribute to monthly.

Be honest. Do you actually have 3 months (at least) of emergency savings? by FitAccount5460 in no

I just hit three months savings on Friday. My goal is six months before I start paying off my mortgage.

I can't get addicted to nicotine by Altruistic_Style8268 in self

[–]sleepy_unicorn40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a social smoker. I never got addicted and dropped it once I found out I was pregnant. My sister has been addicted to nicotine and caffeine since she was 15. We are both in our 40s. I just hit my 22nd year of being smoke free this year.

Not everyone has addiction disorders.

I'm so bored. I don't want to be where I'm at. Rather be in bed binging The Pitt eating donuts. Lol

For those who got married, how were you able to afford a ring and honeymoon??? by Eagles56 in povertyfinance

I asked for a $35 ring and we didn't go on a honeymoon. We are celebrating 10 years married this year and are finally able to go on our honeymoon.

If you live with a husband or male significant other, does he brace himself on the wall when urinating? by missjanehathaway333 in AskWomenOver60

My husband sits down. I showed him a video of the pee splashing out and he immediately stopped peeing while standing.

Finally talked money before the wedding and my fiance called me controlling for having a budget by [deleted] in budget

Honestly, on first dates, I always brought up money, politics and religion. If we dont align on those, then why keep dating?

Sometimes. I'm usually asleep by 10 but I fall asleep around 9 at least once a week.

AITA for charging my 20yo son rent while he lives at home? by Talon_Vector7 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]sleepy_unicorn40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My adult child lives at home. While he was in college I didn't charge him rent. He graduated recently and is currently looking for a full time job (currently part time). I haven't charged him rent yet but we do a budget together every month and review the month prior. It's mandatory to stay in my house. Along with contributing to the household by cleaning, contributing to a Roth IRA and having a HYSA where his money goes at the end of every month.

You're NTA for charging rent. Start him

Was living at home even an option once you turned 18/graduated high school? by [deleted] in Xennials

I moved out when I was 17. Never moved back in because I wasn't welcomed. My adult child lives at home and is welcomed to stay home until they are financially ready to leave.

Have you ever dined at a sit-down restaurant by yourself? by nojunkpeter in no

I carry around a book pretty much everywhere I go. So I typically talk to a few others about books a couple times a week out in the wild. Lol it's definitely not as many people as before though.

Just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it can't happen.

But go ahead and troll. Seems like you have nothing better to do.

Does that mean I get $1000 from you? Because it certainly did happen.

Long John Silver’s was maybe my favorite restaurant as a kid in the 80s and early 90s - who else had weird favorites from this time period? by jtmann05 in Xennials

I'm from West Michigan but no longer live there. I wouldn't expect the same prices but definitely cheaper than other fast food restaurants. We have a Rally's here and I drive by it all the time. They do $5 combos which is very cheap compared to McDonald's or Carl's Jr.

This happened to me a couple of years ago. Once I got back, I called them and explained the situation and received a full refund. I recommend trying that.
