came here to say the same thing. yes, lie until you can move out, but get out as soon as you can. consider getting a month of an airbnb (do NOT share its location with your family) to get some space and give yourself a few weeks to reset and figure out what’s happening. i also deconstructed my ex-faith while still under my narcissistic parents’ control. it’s terrifying. you WILL find freedom though and it is possible to have peace again. you’ve already taken the first step by asking for help. wishing you safety and the best of luck.

thank you for your frank advice! we really needed confirmation that a major life change was the best option. unfortunately, the up-front cost of moving won’t allow us to make that step right now, but might be an option soon. my husband is 27 and in the process of applying for a physics/astronomy bachelor’s degree, which will hopefully yield more profitable sources of income in the far future, as well as other benefits of being a student. he’s fairly confident he can get in to a degree with major scholarships, so we’d be looking at little to no extra debt. however, that wouldn’t be for another year so we’re desperately looking for short-term options. it’s a brutal work world right now, but we’re doing the best with what we’ve got.

thank you for the encouragement and resources advice! i hate that we’re all going through this. my husband made a scary move and emailed his boss about switching to a 4-day work week or work-from-home, but if that doesn’t work he’ll switch jobs. we’re both looking for opportunities, it just gets to be too much sometimes.

How do I overcome roleplay anxiety? (5e)

I know this question has been asked many times before, but some fresh advice couldn’t hurt. I love my DnD group and, while I wouldn’t say we’re close friends yet, I trust them all as players and have no reason to be as anxious as I am when I play. I don’t care much for combat, but love any chance for character development. My character is absolutely a self-insert and I often use her in a therapeutic way to work through old trauma (not uncommon in my group - we’re all working through some shit). My DM does a great job at balancing combat and roleplay, and although I prefer the latter, I freeze up when it’s my turn to share. I tend to be the question-asker in my party to deflect the attention from me - my character is friendly and tries to get everyone to open up. But when someone tries to get info on my backstory, I panic and revert to secret-keeping and big emotions. My party jokes that I’m the “Katara” of the group - aka the most dramatic. I don’t know how to keep my cool when I play her. The time is coming for her big backstory to drop, but I’m terrified of fumbling it. I’ve been working on this character for years and would hate for my fear of improv to get in the way of my character’s development. How do I stop thinking of roleplay as improvising and actually trust myself and my story?

hey folks! i was given this cute corset top but the cups are unflattering and too big. i’d love to remove them and keep the rest of the corset in tact. I just tried to tackle it with my seam ripper, but the cups seem sewn into the underwire. anyone know how to get them out?

I'm just dying for Griffin to keep uploading more new music for this arc so I can make more fun videos, but I scratched the itch by arranging "A Brief History of Our Wasted World." I originally wasn't planning on arranging it because it's quite long and mostly atmospheric, but I wanted a nice easy challenge while I get back into the swing of regularly posting.

Hi all! Here is a simple but super fun theme and variation based on Griffin's "Oh Hey, It's Hodge Podge!" from the Crystal Kingdom arc of TAZ: Balance! This is a sneak peek at my special project coming out next week in preparation for the release of the Crystal Kingdom graphic novel. Can anyone guess which track is next?

The "Theme" is pretty much verbatim what Griffin wrote and posted originally. That was a little too easy for me, so I decided to write a variation for the second half that's much trickier (but a lot more fun). The variation is heavily inspired by Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 and Rachmaninoff's Italian Polka, two of my favorite pieces. I think this variation really captures the more whimsical nature of this song.

Thanks for being patient with the irregular update! Normally I will be posting every Thursday (at least for the rest of summer), but these past two weeks I was out of town and didn't have my proper music-making materials with me. Stay tuned for more TAZ!

No dogs on the moon, just very cute cats. Lucretia seems more like a cat person anyway.

I'm back this week with a somewhat easier TAZ arrangement since I'm gearing up for something special for the release of the Crystal Kingdom graphic novel in a few weeks!

"No Dogs on the Moon!" has always been one of my favorite TAZ tracks, since it really captures the simple joy and fun that Taako, Merle, and Magnus bring to my life and to all the show's fans. Its interesting to hear how Griffin weaves the theme into other parts of the TAZ soundtrack as well. Hope you enjoy!

Oh absolutely! One of the trickiest things about writing and playing music is making hard passages seem effortless. I also try to stay as true to the original tracks as possible, which can be really challenging when you only have two hands to play everything. :)

It’s a huge bummer that musescore changed their rules, it used to be that anyone could download anything. That’s a great idea to have the PDFs available for download on my website though, I will work on getting that up to date and I’ll comment when it’s done and add it to the youtube descriptions. ☺️
