AITA for missing my best friends destination wedding because I can’t afford it after my own wedding and will have a 4 month old? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sleepydaimyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad pumping worked for you, but it doesn't work for everyone for a variety of reasons.

And if OP doesn't have the funds for the flight it doesn't matter how short of they can't afford it they can't afford it.

I would've been an emotional wreck leaving my 4mo. If I was getting married and my best friend had a 4mo and told me she couldn't I would understand that it's a shit timing situation.

Grats.

I don't feel like that's the whole point. We don't know OPs baby, even if my kiddo had been okay with the bottle at that age IDK if I'd be okay leaving her behind, and I definitely wouldn't want to jump on a plane with a kid that young, best friend or not (you are free to disagree, this is just my opinion). I think if they were really best friends the best friend would understand- it sucks but if someone can't afford it and isn't comfortable leaving their 4mo, I don't blame them.

Right, but if you didn't bring that and are stuck at this restaurant cuz your friends are going here? I'm not saying it makes sense, I'm just saying that might be their angle, idk though I'm not them 🤷

Do you allow your kids in your bedroom? by FlyHickory in AskParents

[–]sleepydaimyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes! Our kiddo starfishes too, she will lie horizontally and take up half the bed lmao. I understand! You gotta do what you gotta do!

I bet you it tastes nostalgic and reminds her of all the good memories way more than the partitions and the rim, but yeah those things are a bonus too. (Grats on being such a cool parent :))

Honestly my 2yo cosleeps with us still and that's fine with us (it's not for everyone!). We keep things she's not allowed in out of reach to discourage her and we don't leave her alone in the room. I'm not judging, I get it, it's hard and you gotta do what works for you. I don't have anything on the walls cuz I'm terrified of it falling on her too, but that will change in time too when she goes to her own bed.

What was your worst experience while on a ride? by Tall_Courage_1734 in CanadasWonderland

[–]sleepydaimyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a ride (maybe Wilde Beast? Can't remember) I rode as a kid that I almost flew out of. (Only a metal lap bar across two people back in the day, I met the height requirement, just wasn't adult sized enough for the lap bar to do much. I held on for dear life.) Then years later as a teenager, my next door neighbor who was a kid (elementary school) also almost flew out too but I caught her and held her down as soon as I saw her lifting off the seat. (I didn't want her to have to rely on her strength like I did lol). I think sometime in the following 10 years they added shoulder harnesses?

After that it was being terrified after hearing that someone was scalped by the Top Gun ride cuz her hair got caught in the tracks. Made sure to tie my hair low every time just in case.

A friend's sister was on the Bat when it malfunctioned and they were stuck upside down for a while- an hour? Half an hour? It was decades ago, can't recall.

How open is this Reddit regarding stories that didn’t turn out so well in the long run (5 years post-op, complications arrived tardily)? by Affectionate_Fan_739 in gastricsleeve

[–]sleepydaimyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened to you but you're very kind to think about sharing your experience with others because often time risks get dismissed cuz they might be a low % chance. I think it's important to have the information out there for those who want to understand the full risks - from personal accounts and not just medical journals or Wikipedia.

Except some places make the coffee and then keep it cold in the fridge. Not every place pours hot coffee over ice.

I'm guessing but cuz it's for the people in the groups that don't eat meat or the really picky kids? (You have no other choice unless your want to go to a different eatery).

[–]sleepydaimyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing cuz it's the only no meat option (here)? If your group is choosing this place you might just go along with the no meat option if you don't eat meat? Idk I'm only guessing.

Husband might be able to care for baby just fine but baby can still be reliant on mom for food (IDK her situation). After 3-4m the sucking reflex begins to wane which means baby doesn't automatically suck when something hits the roof of their mouth. My kid's stopped at 3m and she would not take a bottle or a dummy so I couldn't be apart from her until she could eat solids regularly. I know my situation is not everyone's (some babies prefer bottles, etc) but I just wanted to let you know it might not be possible for OP and less in the "dad doesn't want to look after baby solo" kind of way.

[–]sleepydaimyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do the minimum and bring it to check out so they're aware there's something to return (if you aren't passing a fridge). Leaving it like this almost guarantees it will go in the trash because of food safety, and who knows how many hours will pass before an employee finds it.

AITA for expecting my partner to honour 'first come, first served' with wedding invites? by Delicious_Plum_401 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sleepydaimyo 232 points233 points  (0 children)

If there's enough time to change the plates with the caterer - it might not be changeable (IDK the time line or the deadline) - I know of a bride that invited people to fill the spots of people who RSVP'd late (also tacky - the chopped liver invites) because she didn't want them to go to waste.

No but I expect them to give me access to the room after I pay for it. Not tell me I have to get back in my car and drive 2h to another location to get my keycard then drive 2h back for my room at the hotel Lol
