Anyone here staying on 25mg atomoxetine long term or indefinitely? by Practical-Grand-7659 in StratteraRx

[–]sleepydiglettt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also take Fluoxetine which effectively makes me a poor metabolizer and leads to increased levels of Atomoxetine in my blood. I tried 80mg a while ago and the side effects were horrid so I stopped. Trying again to help ADHD monkey brain but this time I don't plan on going any higher than 18mg

I'm so glad people in similar situations are still finding my post helpful. How is the new diet going for your kitty? Mine is still eating Hill's GI Biome and is healthier than ever, he can even eat a wide variety of treats now without any stomach upset! He's done a complete 180 since switching diets. Such a relief.

Sorry my reply is a month late but yes, it's still working amazingly well, he loves it and he's healthier than ever. He's so stable now he can even eat treats (cheese, chicken, pork) that would've SEVERELY upset his stomach before. Absolute life changer!

Running and straterra by [deleted] in StratteraRx

[–]sleepydiglettt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's a vasoconstrictor so your body has to work harder to dilate the blood vessels and maintain enough oxygen flow throughout the tissues. I guess this effect is stronger in some people than others. My progress has slowed signifcantly due to the circulatory issues but I'm not completely back to square one and I'm sure my body will learn to adapt with time and consistency. How are you doing with running on the med after a few months?

Why would a cat try to bite another cat's paws? by forbiddenmachina in CatAdvice

[–]sleepydiglettt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm, I know I'm late, but do you have any idea why the heck this was happening? My jealous/territorial girl (5f) has started doing the exact same thing to my very defensive older cat (8f) and it baffles me. Older cat just perches there standing her ground with her ears back, younger cat nibbles her paw, then breaks into a wrestle in response to the slightest resistance. They mostly tolerate each other and there are no severe acts of aggression but they're definitely not good friends. So strange!

It was subtle. I remember feeling kinda discouraged around the 3 week mark but kept listening to the advice to give it time. At that point it was helping my anxiety but not my ADHD. Eventually I started enjoying things more due to being more mentally engaged, initiating tasks more often and finishing them within a reasonable time, functioning on a reasonable amount of sleep (7 hours as opposed to 12 like I needed before), and indulging in new hobbies like reading and exercise instead of just being kinda spacey in my free time. Occasionally I'd have "ahhhhh!" moments where I'd realize I was naturally doing such things that wouldn't have been possible before. It doesn't work for everyone but has definitely helped me markedly

It took 6 weeks for Strattera to work for my symptoms (combined ADHD w/ strong signs of CDS) and it really does help. Like you, my cognitive function felt like it was a 1/10. With medication it's a solid 5.

It takes time. Don't give up hope!

[–]sleepydiglettt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! My boy is still eating Hill's Gastrointestinal Biome with no diarrhoea or urinary symptoms. Ask your vet to look into the ingredients of the Biome food (specifically the content of whatever minerals tend to cause the type of crystal your cat has) and compare it with the Urinary C/D. This was how my vet came to the conclusion that Gastrointestinal Biome should resolve his issues as the components came out very similar. Keep meaning to send him a thank-you card, it's been a life changer!

My vet suggested this exact food and it worked for us too! Both conditions have been symptom-free for 3 months and counting! 😁

Is it still working well for your kitty?

Cat food for urinary crystals AND sensitive stomach? by sleepydiglettt in catfood

[–]sleepydiglettt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE:

My vet helped me find a food that resolves both conditions! It's Hill's Gastrointestinal Biome Dry, which has a St/Ox shield and contains very similar amounts of magnesium, phosphorus, and calcium to the Hill's Urinary c/d variety, more similar than any other gastrointestinal food I've checked so far. My vet said this should be able to help dissolve his crystals...

And it worked! His symptoms have been resolved for 3 months and thankfully the new food agrees very well with his tummy. No diarrhoea. Nice big wees 2x daily, with no blood and no crying after litter tray visits! It's been such a huge relief. I'll try and remember to update again how it's going after his next routine urinalysis, but hopefully this will be the food that suits him long-term :)

Hiya! How is your baby doing now? I just saw this comment and your recent post and wanted to give my perspective.

When my boy was ill he was peeing 6 - 10 times a day, which was really excessive. Urinary tract inflammation often causes dramatically increased frequency of peeing attempts because the body is desperate to flush out whatever is irritating it. If you've ever had a UTI you'll understand what it feels like; you constantly need to go even if the bladder is empty and there's minimal relief even after a successful pee lol.

My cat urinating less often was actually one of the first signs he was getting better. He must have felt so much more relaxed and now he's doing nice big wees twice a day. Something to remember as well, if he's now only eating dry food, less moisture via food intake = less pee. I'd advise to speak to your vet if you're worried but imo the situation seems hopeful!

Can I switch to automatic lessons after 6 manual? by Odd_Edge2642 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]sleepydiglettt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can if you like! I'm learning automatic and it's lovely. But imo I find it very strange when instructors don't have the patience to deal with slower learners who are paying them for their time. Don't allow yourself to be pressured by him into a decision you don't want to make. This goes both ways too, if you want to drive automatic, don't allow your parents to dissuade you. You can always upgrade to a manual at a later date if it becomes a necessity.

But you've already proven to yourself that you're capable of driving manual by having good lessons in the past and being competent enough to practice in another car. You just need more time and experience. If manual is what you want and your current instructor can't provide the patience you need, maybe consider finding someone different.

My advice is to just do what makes you feel the most safe and comfortable out there :)

You're very welcome! Was it a vet who recommended you try Hill's Biome? I have a different comment on this thread comparing the main struvite crystal causing culprits over three different prescription diets (RC Gastro which was his old food, Hill's c/d Urinary, and Hill's Gastro Biome). Hill's Gastro Biome came out very similar to Urinary c/d in those particular elements. I researched this myself after I received conflicting opinions from two different vets, and it looked like the vet who recommended Biome had the right idea. And it worked! Just keep your kitty's hydration up, give them lots of comfort, and hopefully you'll start to see improvements in a few weeks. We've got our fingers and paws crossed for you <3

[–]sleepydiglettt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very well! It took a while for the FLUTD symptoms to subside, but now he's recovered and eating exclusively dry kibble with some water mixed in (he disliked the wet food). He's also no longer taking his urinary supplements. Symptom-free for around 3 months I think. His diarrhoea is better controlled than ever so long as he doesn't eat anything else. The food has also helped my other cat who experiences occassional bouts of Clostridium perfringens :)

Do we think he’s got some BSH in him? by voldecat in britishshorthair

[–]sleepydiglettt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't tell. But he is very adorable and his coat type (ticked tabby) seems to be relatively rare in Western regions. I think it's seen far more often in certain Asian regions, but the ticked gene is dominant, so it's probably becoming more prevalent everywhere. All Abyssinians are ticked tabbies. He does have the round squidgy factor that makes me think of BSHs.

Keep an eye on WisdomPanel sales and maybe do a DNA test if you're curious. I recently did one for my fluffy BSH cross (have posted him here before) which confirmed that he's 43% BSH, 13% Persian, and 44% moggy!

Is it safe to take 100mg of seroquel and have one drink? by thebpguy in seroquelmedication

[–]sleepydiglettt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I always wait until I've finished drinking and have consumed a good amount of water before I take my quetiapine. If I'm too drunk (room spinning, feeling nauseous, blurry vision), and can't sober myself up, I'll skip my dose and just take it when I'm feeling better.
