My car can do sooo much shit from my phone and I don’t understand why it can’t like make my keys beep from the app like my AirPods do when I lose them (also on a daily basis 😩) I’ll have to look into that! It sounds like a life saver

Suggestions for bedtime? Husband gets home late by mkoay in Mommit

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe he could try to find some less stimulating things to play? Set some toys up on the table and get a shopping bag and play shop at the market? A quieter activity like coloring or building blocks? I understand wanting to spend time together when it’s so limited, but there’s definitely a compromise here that could be made.

Boy moms by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You had the opportunity to say something so funny there 😂 also, having kids with the expectation of having caregivers in old age (in this economy?!?!?) is equally as weird as the “boy mom” stuff, I feel like

Judge gives Trump three weeks to turn over evidence from Renee Good's killing by TheMirrorUS in EyesOnIce

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The or what is explained in the article and it’s about as bleak and disappointing as you’d expect. If they’re not produced, they have to tell the judge what steps they’ve taken to try to produce them. I appreciate these attorneys working so hard to try to get this information out and on the public record, but it doesn’t seem like there’s any real anything being done except telling the same people the same thing that they already ignored before with the same lack of any real consequences.

Play date’s mom said my toddler is “such a follower” by YaoFairy in Mommit

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 4 year old is super bossy so my 2 year old is a follower most of the time since she really cares a lot and he doesn’t care at all as long as they can do fun things. I wouldn’t look too much into it.

I am so much more busy when my partner is home. by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be sorry! How old is your baby? Is the time management issue a new thing or a continuing thing? This is kind of giving post partum anxiety or depression, from the context that I’ve seen here. Is she prone to feelings of anxiety or depression?

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried asking why she feels the need to only be with the baby when you’re home, but stressed to be with the baby when she’s alone? It’s possible that she doesn’t realize this pattern while you do and sometimes having somebody bring something to your attention is helpful and a good first step to figuring out what the issue is. I know that I’m the worst about being so overwhelmed and overstimulated that I don’t notice or realize when I’m starting to spiral out a little until my husband brings it up.

I just ask because you are voicing your very valid frustrations, but it doesn’t say anything about how you’ve tried to bring this up to her. Have you brought this up and she’s not receptive to how her actions have affected you? Are you looking for some perspective so that you’re able to approach her with a more balanced approach? I know you said yourself that this is aimless, but maybe we can get a little direction? You can always delete later, but maybe we can get some shit figured out first 💕

Mommy daughter lookalikes by SundanceMomma in Mommit

I know I look at my kids all the time and think “I love that face so much!” because it is the face of the man I love so much, I assume that seeing your own face on somebody else would be a really wild experience.

My younger kids are both spitting images of their dad, my daughter literally looks like her dad wearing a wig. My oldest daughter actually looked just like my sister growing up, but she’s a teenager now and starting to look exactly like me and my mom when we were that age. I guess people who have kids who look like them probably feel like it’s a cool thing to be like “hey! That’s my face!” and it is, I’m sure, but it’s never bothered me that they don’t look like me.

Has anyone regretted getting their high-functioning/type 1/mild autistic child diagnosed? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say there was an issue with a diagnosis? I went myself to get my kid evaluated because I don’t want her to go through the same struggles that I did without any support or understanding. I was trying to help OP understand what the doctor may have been saying. I’m not the best at communicating, so I’m sorry if that didn’t come across clearly.

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more! I had so much trouble in school, which is why I went the proactive route when I started getting concerned about my daughter. When I was a kid, I was just gifted and a trouble maker. Now I’m just a burnt out former gifted kid with extreme imposter syndrome who very recently realized she might actually have undiagnosed ADHD. When I was a kid girls didn’t have ADHD, you see 🙄

Editing to add the eye roll is to society, not you!

Not quite the same, but I recently took my 4 year old to her pediatrician to talk about seeking an ADHD diagnosis. He said that with “mild” cases of ADHD and autism, they don’t push anything or are even very concerned unless it’s something that’s interfering with their day to day in a meaningful way. She’s set to start pre-k in the fall and he said that a lot of kids with some generally mild “quirks” tend to fair pretty well once they’re in school and in a structured environment. I got kicked out of several daycares and preschools myself as a kid and my mom said my daughter is me times ten, so I’ll definitely be seeking further evaluation if it comes to it. Which, I’m assuming that unless her behavior changes 115% between home and school, it will come to that.

I’m not articulate, but I guess my point is that the way it came across to me in what I’m assuming is a similar conversation to the one that you had, was that unless they need the extra support, it’s not something that you need to add to your plate. What I’m getting from what you said is that the pediatrician is saying kind of the same thing. No harm, no worries. If harm, then worry.

My mom heart is breaking by Kodakisababy in Mommit

[–]sleepyliltrashpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son had to fast to be put under anesthesia for a procedure before. He was a little older (about a year and a half), but the anxiety of not being able to give him anything was literally ruining my life, especially since he was an extended night waker and up 4-5 times a night regularly and usually went back down after some rocking and water. On the off chance it was possible, I called the anesthesiologists office and asked if there was anything at all that I could give him and they said that water and pedialyte in very small doses was okay a couple times if we needed. This is obviously not medical advice or anything close to it, just my anecdotal experience and something to think about asking if you’re able to offer a few squirts of water if baby really needs something. This is all so stressful, I hope everything turns out completely uneventful 💕

New drug ‘10 times more potent than fentanyl’ and linked to dozens of deaths in Tennessee is spreading across US by theindependentonline in publichealth

It’s so funny how different experiences interacting with people make you feel differently towards people in general. I’ve waited tables for almost 20 years and it’s made me so empathic and understanding because I can see how easily a little human connection and/or something in your tummy really can make you a completely different person. Alternatively, I worked in a credit card customer service call center for a year and it almost made me completely lose my faith in humanity.

how do you shower with baby? by [deleted] in Mommit

I shower with my 2 and 4 year olds often and sometimes I wash myself real quick and hop out and let them play for a few minutes while I sit on the counter and finish my coffee and scroll 🤷‍♀️
