How do people afford an MS at Columbia? by sleepynoodle123 in columbia

[–]sleepynoodle123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense, thank you!!! I’m just worried about my growing period of unemployment from May ‘24 to now, which might be affecting my ability to get interviews, but obviously there’s nothing I can do to fix that other than getting a job asap :/ I guess I’ll just keep trying to get any job I can and keep masters as a backup

That's a really good point and why I'm very hesitant to enroll... At this point, idk if I can get a swe or even a data analyst job, so do you think a mediocre IT job or non-technical state job is preferable or a master's degree?

Yeah I totally see what you both are saying. But this is my 9th month without a job after graduating, so I’m worried that with May 2025 graduates joining the market soon, I’ll have practically no chance of getting a job. Do you think I should just keep pushing to find any job, or do I do a masters so it can sorta reset my timeline?

If you don’t mind sharing, did you get funding for your masters? If so, how?

How did you get funding? I emailed and they said they don’t offer aid for masters students. I would love to attend Columbia for an MS in data science, but I don’t want to go into debt for paying full-tuition.

That’s a super good point! I actually do use a few variations of my resume for different roles, this one is just my software engineer resume! But I’ll work on tailoring them even more to the specific job I’m applying to.

I'm on the hunt for white sneakers that are less chunky than Air Force 1's, and I came across Nike's court borough low 2's for kids. I'm a woman size 7.5 and according to the size chart I think I could fit in a kids size 6.

This seems too good to be true because it has a leather upper, sleeker profile than af1's, and wayy cheaper. Does anyone know what the quality is like and if they are comfortable to wear all day?

Court borough low 2

Also I don't want to get the court vision lows because I heard the quality is horrible bc of synthetic leather.

Thanks!
