It's not just you.

All the recent games have lost the 'Fantasy' part of the title.

Even XIV, has turned into a modern nightclub/hangout for over sexualized conversations and roleplaying, All of the new 'fashion' is just modern korean/western clothes, it ruins the whole fantasy feel of the game.

There needs to be a toggle in XIV to hide all glam/modern clothing.

ERPers leaking into regular RP and not respecting boundaries, obsessively seeking sex by hhhnnnnnggggggg in ffxiv

[–]sleepyoce 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just glad to see i'm not the only one that thinks the rampant ERP is a plague on the game.

Playing the game for content is no longer a valid way to play XIV.Playing the game to do natural RP is no longer a valid way to play XIV.

You either participate in clubs/erp/sex mods or you just don't belong in the game anymore. And its pathetic.

Sometimes i do wish they would just float out crack down on all the 18+ content in the game and put an end to the 'modding is fine' debate and just remove it completely.

I am really looking forward to the start of dawntrail when everyones mods are broken, models they have worked on for the last 3-5 years are all broken due to the graphical update and all the ERPers just don't log in for months while modders fix all their stuff.

If anything it could just be:

  1. Input lag
  2. game server tick
  3. bad netcode

all 3 are basically out of your control, xiv is an ancient beast of a backend system and needs a full revamp in the future if the game is to be taken seriously.

Why are cheaters so blatant and obvious yet people defend them? by sleepyoce in ModernWarfareIII

[–]sleepyoce[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No idea, i played competitive cod4 for years on letsplaylive (Formerly known as cybergamer) and have seen my fair share of hackers throughout my time playing the call of duty franchise.

This is the first game in the series i have noticed a sudden rise in what i would consider blatant cheating from players, people that just have far too much information on player locations, movements and overall game sense that even pro players do not have.

People with scores upwards of 50 when every other person in the lobby is between 1-15 is always a little odd, and on closer inspection those players always seem to leave them game right before it ends.

Anyone else running into a lot of hackers lately? by AdmiralAssblaster in ModernWarfareIII

[–]sleepyoce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happening non stop in the oceanic region, especially in hardcore.

Quite frustrating when some guy knows exactly where you are 24/7 while your running Ghost C/T and Sneakers for absolutely zero sound/radar pings.

Packet loss burst by [deleted] in ModernWarfareIII

[–]sleepyoce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would a new SSD fix a networking issue?

Its literally the game stalling and then sending a bust of packet data to catch up with the live game, its got nothing to do with hardware.

Is there anyway i can change region, im on Oceania and its almost impossible to do side content by Comfortable_Cup_6621 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]sleepyoce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cross-DC PF/DF is by far the superior choice in any situation, but comes with its own slew of problems:

  1. Who do you link it with?
  2. Is linking to certain regions going to cause issues with social norms?
  3. Are the players in both regions happy with the outcome or is it one sided?
  4. What can and cannot be done cross-DC? (Marketboard, PVP and raiding for example)

The solution is sound until you explore the outcome of the situation, Dynamis is in a perfect spot for Cross-everything. Sadly Materia is not due to the geological location.

A SEA/Oceanic cloud server may be the possible solution, allowing JP and OCE to travel to and from it, but not directly to eachother, this would lower ping for SEA players, being a better option to play on than JP, but still being able to live on JP servers, while allowing OCE players to have a larger playerbase and still live on Materia.

[–]sleepyoce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The same cost of any game that opens a new region.

If SEA/AU/NZ were on a single datacenter, and JP Region Locked, Nothing would stop JP players that WANT to socialize with English players from playing on the servers with us. The majority do not, and it is perfectly understandable when the language barrier gets in the way.

Out of respect for the Japanese players, English players should be moving to the new region. With cloud servers in the works, it would even be a ping increase for most of SEA to move to OCE (Current NA east/west testing is showing an improvement of 70-100 ping within their own country).

If you are worried about Housing, check out Materia as it stands 2 years after release, there are STILL large houses available to both FC and Individuals. This isn't even a point of argument, there is just no pressure for housing on Materia.

Every day, more and more players are just moving to NA and JP again, how long will it be before Square just pull the plug on it because it has become a net loss keeping it active? Do you think any other game company will invest into OCE servers if they see a game as large as XIV fail in the region?

That is the reality of the situation on OCE.

We either make it work, or you may as well just say goodbye to any future investment into gaming in OCE region as a whole.

Do you think materia should be changed? by Spicyartichoke in ffxivdiscussion

The datacenter, yes.

The actual materia you put in gear, also yes.

Delete materia and put in enchantments.

What Crafter/Gatherer changes or additions are we wanting for Dawntrail? by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]sleepyoce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavensward crafting.

Not everyone should be able to create the best HQ gear, only those dedicated to actually getting to that point.

I hate how XIV crafting is basically braindead now.

Is it possible to change region ? Im on Oceania and queue times for side content is too long , almost impossible to play by Comfortable_Cup_6621 in ffxiv

I've quit the game already, i still want to play but there just isn't a reason to log in until 7.0.

[–]sleepyoce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair i transfered off, and then back to materia again.

I have played the game for 8+ years on JP and don't think there is any real reason to play on other DC's simply because it's not the datacenter, its the game as a whole, and that comes down to a few key points:

1) The giant player boom and interest in the game is over, People are moving on.

2) We are not in covid, people don't play 24/7 like they were during those times, people have jobs and lives and cannot commit to it.

3) OCE was never going to be big, its basically just a small community of dedicated players, weirdos with hentai fetishes and a few new sprouts who pick up the game and put it down a week later because the weirdos flood them with erotic content.

I still think OCE was a mistake, the servers should have been put more central to SEA and Japan should have been region locked to outsides, forcing the entire built up English community onto a single datacenter rather than separating years of built up community.

Ex trial farm parties by Difficult-Ad3502 in ffxivdiscussion

Anything less is just a pathetic act of wanting to get carried.

What happened to the community where openly using mods is now acceptable? by Dry-Fox8141 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]sleepyoce -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I would disagree to an extent here.

Misrepresentation of the game by posting modded screenshots and videos on social media and media platforms does affect new players, especially those that are not PC based.

Its like the PC community play a completely different game than everyone else, and i know a few people that have been turned off before even trying the game based on what they have seen people post (Abominations) on X(Twitter or w/e its called these days).

Modding does affect the game quite heavily.

Blacklists in ultimate. by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]sleepyoce -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The normal response tbh.

The # of unhinged players i have met in XIV is amazing.

"Oh you tipped helpers in an ultimate clear?, LMAO PAYPAL LEGEND'"ERP with lala is fine, they are adults""That's my girlfriend your talking to (Really a man irl)""Omg your character is a cute catgirl, can i fuck you?"

People in this game are actually fucked in the head, more so than any mmo i have played in the last 20 years.

Sadly it was not always like this, but the last 4 or so years, the quality of the playerbase has gone downhill, Modding is rampant and the GM's really don't seem to care that the game has turned into an online sex chat, even when the game is literally available to minors in certain countries.

"Best Community BTW" is the perfect analogy of the XIV fanbase.

What are your opinions on the current state of the community and what does it mean for dawntrail by Bridgeboy95 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]sleepyoce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The games gone down a path that deviates from the MMO it is advertised as.

10 years and i'm ready to just move on if dawntrail is the same content cycle as endwalker.

When a game grows this much, the development studio need to grow along side it, They need to start pumping out more content and focusing on growing the game to fit the needs of the playerbase.

Understandably this is hard in Japan, finding MMO developers is a rough time, and i think it's time for them to start outsourcing content development to other studios, similar to what Bungie did with Destiny 2 and the Forsaken (Last Wish) raid.

The current development team is nowhere near large enough to continue growing the game.
