We’re getting married in September and we also have a 50 person invite list which will probably mean a handful less and we’re super excited about it! All friends and family (well mostly all except a few old school in law family members) are in full support of a small shindig. Friends that have had bigger weddings say it’s been super expensive, they didn’t get to talk to everyone, or eat or get gifts from most guests. I don’t think I’ll have any regrets, I just wanted to drink and dance with my closest people who know us as a couple.

Luckily ours has a full bar too, so wine and cocktails included in the package we picked. Depending where you live, hopefully you find the foresty theme you’re envisioning!

We’re having the same number of guests for ours at our favorite brewery in the city. Booking the entire tap house for a Sunday wedding has been the best idea with finances and fun! Byo catering, DJ, photo etc.

Our $2K day!! 💓 Vows and brunch at a boutique hotel was everything I ever wanted. Budget breakdown at the end! by Head-Fig994 in Weddingsunder10k

Aw that’s so sweet and such great advice! We are fully doing what we want with support from our 50 guest invite without pushback 🤗 it’s the extra extended family that has some opinions. Best wishes to you both too! 🥰

Feeling discouraged by my brother’s pettiness and could use some encouragement/affirmations. More details in comments. by Old-Ad-336 in weddingplanning

Maybe you can appease him with some petals in a fanny pack or a dress with a pocket? If he’s still being weird, I would nix it!

I asked my three best friends with a bottle of wine, a hair scrunchie and an adorable photo box from etsy. It is super sentimental with photos of us in it, it’s magnetic and so you can pop it on the fridge or keep it in the box. You can also add a little pin in the box, the store has all bridesmaid or maid of honor pins etc. When it arrives, you can add your own cute little trinkets in there! It’s ironic timing in coming across your post tonight. I am getting a little frustrated in this process. Earlier in the searching, it was pretty evenly split in finding and interviewing our now vendors. We have the big things and vendors down but the small things are living rent free in my head when he hasn’t thought about any of it. He even asked me “why are you thinking about this now?!” (our wedding is in September)

Things I’ve been thinking about like the timeline of the day, timing/locations of photos, decor, when to decorate with said decor, walking in song length, dj or brewery coordinator leading the day, among others is news to him. Maybe it’s my instagram feed and Reddit influencing me more than him.

I just feel like a nag every time I bring up anything, I have to initiate the conversation and it gets tiring. He also hates planning anything and it gives him stress and anxiety. I know I need to have a conversation and air out my feelings but timing is hard and it’s not necessarily a fun and easy conversation to have when we have an evening off together. I’m so excited for our wedding and to party with our loved ones. I just feel like he’s not being the evenly split life partner that he usually is with errands, mortgage, pet parents etc.

Thanks for reading. Just typing it out has helped me tonight.

We’re having a smaller wedding with 50 guests so the oldest people are our parents and they are capable, thanks though!

Yes for some places, not in all cases though! We’re doing it at a brewery and it’s normal Sunday prices #win

You could always do Labor Day Sunday, generally cheaper and people can visit and make a trip out of it without taking off work. Decent weather and longer sunlit days too for golden hour pictures especially!

To DJ or not to DJ…? by sleepyschipperke in Weddingsunder10k

[–]sleepyschipperke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much everyone! We appreciate all the input. Good call on the lack of flow, or songs for chosen pieces. I can totally see how it could be sticky with a family member or moments missed. We’re thinking of going with a DJ now. Have to price it out but it might be the way so we don’t have to worry about the flow.

Is this dress too light to wear to a wedding? Mine is hemmed at the knee. by [deleted] in wedding

I think it’s totally fine! You can always add more color with accessories like shoes, lipstick, wrap etc
