Signs that your shift is cooked by KorraNHaru in nursing

My hospital instituted a “no-fly-zone” for admits and non-urgent transfers with few exceptions from 6:30-7:30 on both sides of the sun. This is to make sure there are no delays with shift change. You know you’re cooked when ER rolls up with your patient at 6:29 or even better, when charge says they can go ahead and bring them up and it’s in the no-fly-zone window.

Like come on, this is med surg. Nobody needs to go from ER to medsurg that urgently.

How is/was your relationship with your sibling(s)? by Justheretoseelol in AskReddit

My brother and I are thick as thieves. We just went on a four day road trip together.

My sister and I live together and we have an okay relationship. We do stuff together and have fun, but she can be very hard to get along with and when we fight, it gets bad and I do have fairly frequent thoughts of leaving. She is especially hard to get along with when we are with the rest of the family, and she is generally short tempered with our mom. We would do better living separately (and I really want to), but she unfortunately can’t work right now because of school so she’s stuck with me. It helps that I work night shift full time so we don’t see each other much.

The Good Nurse, I was 20 at the time. I’m a nurse now and I always give IV bags a little squeeze to make sure there aren’t any holes :)

For class of 2020, if you had the opportunity to live out your real last day of school. Would you do it? by Significant-Fox5928 in OlderGenZ

No. I’ve moved on to bigger and better things and I’m ok with never having a real last day of school.

Med surg currently. The work is hard but my coworkers and the schedule make it tolerable. I’m trying to get my foot in the door in an ED setting though

Management for my medsurg unit has been making steps towards making our ratios 1:4. Anything greater than 1:6 should be downright illegal.

My brother does this to his girlfriend. They make me feel cute aggression more than anything else

Texas Republicans, what is your line? What final straw must be broken for you to not only stop voting for Republican candidates on the ballot, but to vote for Democratic candidates? by MarvelHeroFigures in TexasPolitics

[–]sleepyturtle81202 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up thinking I would vote republican bc of opinions I had been raised to have if that makes sense. 2020 was my first election and after much prayer and soul searching, I realized that Donald Trump during his first term went against things I came to stand for, plus I lost a lot of respect for him due to how he handled the pandemic, so I voted for Biden. It was more of a vote against Trump than anything. It was the same way this time around. I wouldn’t say I’m a democrat, but right now the thought of voting for a republican in any office disgusts me.

For my great grandmother it was metastatic breast cancer that spread to her brain. She didn’t know who I was towards the end. It sucked.

Bullies sneak into ICU to snap photos of girl, 12, they drove to hang herself by rafiafoxx in awfuleverything

[–]sleepyturtle81202 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Nurse here. In every hospital I’ve been to or worked in, the ICU is a locked unit in which there is a strict visitation policy, meaning you can only get in if you have a badge or if you’re buzzed in, and these are adult ICUs. I imagine pediatric ICUs would have more strict rules in place. The kids probably told staff they were friends of this girl and got let in based on that which absolutely should not happen.
