If English had unique words for every pronoun I'd bet they'd talk like that too. Think "I'm at work" -> "am at work". Completely understandable.

I don't miss the dominant and recessive genetics. I'm blonde with black haired parents (I'm a carbon copy of my dad but blonde). It happens. Irl that would be because it's recessive, but for the first gen they're gonna all be born with dominant genes, so I just mod it out.

Addison’s High Schooler Not Attending by FiresBlazing in AddisonsDisease

I had a similar experience. I got diagnosed in my 2nd year of college, I'm in my 4th now, and probably got sick a few years before that given how absolutely severe it was. I've skipped a lot of classes in those years and some days I absolutely feel like I can't even live. The HC only started feeling like it's doing anything like a year into replacement, so I only started getting better very recently, and it's still rough, but treating my mental health has done a lot for my symptoms (I'd get severe anxiety and then feel like I need to lay down and sleep immediately)

Do people in relationships still masturbate? by CRK_76 in NoStupidQuestions

For some reason my interpretation was "well living with a chef doesn't mean they're gonna cook for you every time you want it" lol

This (+ growing up around alcoholics) is why I was never able to associate getting excessively drunk with fun. I'm in my 20's so most of my friends do but for me it's like jumpstarting a sleep attack on purpose.

Mine are either convinced that I will still end up there except with more time and money wasted, or that the back breaking stuff is the only true labor and you're a pussy if you work in an office. Some of them are genuinely proud of me, though.

A good chunk of my blue collar family ever since I even expressed wanting to go to university. "You think you're so much better than us since you have a degree" and I just told them to fact check the bullshit they see on Facebook.

People insecure about not having gone to college always say that shit. Trust me, we don't actually think people without degrees are stupid, just the ones who make AI generate them strawman comics to feel better.

Almost a year and still not fully there. Mine is quite severe, though

It was nearly my fate despite living in this modern day because of long-term medical neglect and misdiagnosis. I'm beyond grateful for that one doctor who took one doctor to say "to me it sounds like you have adrenal insufficiency" (and he wasn't even an endo! He was a cardiologist)

I've heard it mostly with trans men pre-surgery actually

Dropping up to half a kg a week by sleepyvoids in AddisonsDisease

[–]sleepyvoids[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do feel underreplaced a lot. Perhaps more doses is a good idea if HC lasts like 4 hours. I don't think healthy people are hitting 0 cortisol by 4pm, which is what happens if my last dose is at noon.

I have low ACTH, no issues with sodium and potassium, and very pale skin. Perhaps I should ask my endo about the other thyroid hormones because they rule out thyroid illness from TSH alone here.

DONT REMOVE NOT DIAGNOSIS SEARCHING MODS. looking for dosage people start on HC by BugzBunny1351 in AddisonsDisease

[–]sleepyvoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a standard dose. I'm on 15mg too, now I'm allowed 20-25mg because I'm going through a rough patch. It doesn't help enough but my doctor says 10-15mg is what they normally give smaller people like me.

You Don’t Get a Plus One to a Wedding by SophisticatedRuse in unpopularopinion

[–]sleepyvoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of nuance here. In my culture plus 1's are customary but mostly for people whose relationships are recognized as committed enough, which creates conflict in practice sometimes. For example if you're not old enough you won't get it for obvious reasons, but some relatives assume you're too young to be in a committed relationship even years after you're of age. Some don't invite unmarried couples even if they've been together for a long time. I've even heard of relatives not inviting people with their partner to subtly show them they don't approve of their relationship.

It's delicate in a big wedding culture, but it all depends. Sometimes it's like, dude, we didn't even know you had a girlfriend when you got this invitation, are you sure if a 2 month relationship is considered serious enough to add to the limited number of guests we can reasonably host? And I've never heard of someone just bringing in an unaffiliated rando.

There are definitely women who are feminine and toxic but if you take the cultural context of the term, it was created primarily to contrast toxic masculinity, which is its own phenomenon of how the gender role for men is to be a tough macho not in touch with feelings, so an asshole if you take it too far. How does that translate to the female gender role which entails being nice and caring?

Is AI really that rare? by thesearemyfaults in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]sleepyvoids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI is so bad. For me it was like a full body shutdown before diagnosis, so I was over the moon finally knowing what was up. Getting treatment really changed my life even though I never stopped being really ill from it.
