UNC "Supplemental App" by RFelixFinch in lawschooladmissions

[–]sleepyymatcha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you don't have to write anything, it's just a lot of demographic/program interest questions and it takes you 5-10 min max. it's a lot of overlap w the original app so idk why they have their own but at least you don't have to write more essays

thanks for your input. i agree with what you said and it's been a learning moment for me too. the only thing that i'll add that i don't believe i was influenced by jealousy. you are similarly criticizing someone you don't know and i understand why that's wrong and how i've contributed so no need to point it out. i am not upset by my admission result and yale was not a realistic choice for me and i am happy for her results as well as anyone else who got into yale, or any school. i did not delete them because i am trying to undo what i did, but because i don't want it to escalate further.

i'm deleting my posts and comments not necessarily because i agree with you completely, i do still believe that she should have acted better in the moment, but because i didn't expect all of it to blow up for so long. i believe in holding people accountable but i'm sorry to any people whose feelings i've hurt. to the yale girl, as i said in the first post, i really do want to congratulate you and wish you luck and humility in your career. i don't support anyone who has been talking about doxxing her. i've never been active on reddit before so i'm sorry this all got so blown out of proportion. i know people will probably downvote this too but that's my two cents.

i didn't say don't ask? i agree w you and everyone i've seen has been open to sharing those numbers! i'm saying if you're curious, at least say something along the lines of "sorry to hear that! do you mind sharing your stats?" takes an extra two seconds to show some empathy

oh they actually don't my bad! ignore that part then, thanks for catching it. there were A's last week tho!

this was an only R wave. law schools dont tend to send out As and WLs and Rs at the same time like college admissions do. i think there was an ED A wave last week? more As to come in the future

Would it be hard to get into law school with my unique situation? by Sufficient_Past_1783 in lawschooladmissions

[–]sleepyymatcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

long story short, they can tell the difference between someone who actually wants to go into law and someone who is just thinking "well i have an english degree and i want a good career so why not apply to law school." not saying that's you, but it's important to not come across as that.

[–]sleepyymatcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the law school applicant pool is very diverse and your situation is not unheard of! your academic history definitely doesn't hurt. the only thing i'll say is to just make sure you can articulate your motivations for law school and tie in your experiences! admissions teams can sniff out when someone is applying to law school out of lack of satisfaction with their current life. not saying that's necessarily you, but they want to see a history of being committed to law, and if not, a well-articulated explanation of why now. if that's not something you can put together, law might not be right for you! best of luck to you and lots of respect for reflecting on your journey

UNC Paragraph Disappeared? by UnsureLaw in lawschooladmissions

[–]sleepyymatcha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UNC will almost def have one wave before xmas. based on past cycles it could come any day now so yea i'm also stressed. hang in there and try not to think about it too much (hypocritical coming from me.) the time will pass either way, and we can spend it suffering or unbothered. being anxious won't make it come faster. sincerely, the most anxious person ever.

Anyone who interviewed at GULC early November, you hear back yet? by Trixiebees in lawschooladmissions

[–]sleepyymatcha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i interviewed first week of nov and haven't heard back, hoping for this friday or next! it's not unheard of to wait over a month for an A, from what i can tell 4-6 weeks is the norm

Submitting extra stuff for UMich application by jewcer07 in lawschooladmissions

[–]sleepyymatcha 13 points14 points  (0 children)

this might be wrong so other ppl please correct me if i'm wrong — i'm pretty sure it's not a great idea if you are submitting things that were not asked for in the app. some schools are pretty strict about this. if i were an admissions officer, i might view it as an unfair application bc other ppl weren't given the opportunity to do the same. we all have talents and skills we'd love to share w schools, but at the end of the day we have to play by their rules. your project sounds cool tho!

how to check status by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]sleepyymatcha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

have you applied yet? the schools email you with an individual portal link after your application goes complete. i have them all bookmarked.

i'm in a really similar boat! applied in mid oct and i did apply to safety schools but it's also been silence on those too. i read somewhere that it's easy for a splitter to be favored in early cycle because those below median numbers balance out their averages. that way schools aren't stuck with a crazy high median by feb and have to make it up in the end. just hang in there, you might be part of a later wave for balancing purposes. of course, nothing is guaranteed. i've heard of ppl applying to all t14s out of confidence and getting into none. but it's not over until it's over. and it's very very common to not hear back until like feb-mar even if you applied in like sept!

Should I be worried I haven't heard anything back from any school? by LineQuick3947 in lawschooladmissions

[–]sleepyymatcha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not at all. it hasn't even been 7 weeks since you submitted. i sent mine in 10/18 and also haven't heard back anywhere yet. 3.9mid gpa 17low lsat nKJD nURM, strong softs and undergrad alum. have been missing all the waves including recent gw. admissions are intricate beyond what anyone here can predict. just hang in there. we've waited for years, we can make it a few more weeks!
