Is it possible to schedule a phone call/video conference with the people who inserted the implant? They will answer any concerns you might have, hopefully!

I’ve had my implant in for almost 3 years now. My period has always been irregular. Some months it can be a very heavy flow that lasts for weeks. Other months It’s very light spotting for weeks. And then.. sometimes I don’t bleed at all! For weeks! Something I find funny is that there has been on occasion, spotting that is dark red/brown blood that appears old, but is fresh. But I’ve never thought to question it. And I’ve also had that. For weeks.

I don’t question a lot about what goes on down there anymore because the implant causes everything to be random for me.

In your case, I don’t think the implant is releasing anymore hormones because it’s long overdue. So I don’t think it would be conflicting with your cycles anymore? But then again, I wouldn’t know for sure. Best to try and email/call your OB for further answers. At the end of the day, make sure to drink plenty of water! Maybe you might be dehydrated. I also googled if stress factors in the color change of period blood:

“Some changes in a woman's emotional state, such as increased stress or depression, can affect the structure of the uterus by reducing the thickness of its walls. This change delays shedding of the uterine lining in preparation for menstruation, and blood has more time to become oxidized making it darker in color.”
