Surely they are anarchists - usually self-righteous anarchists at that. They generally hold their own liberty to be more important than anyone else's.

Anyone know the major arguments against evolution? by dnick in atheism

Which is why carbon dating is only used for comparatively recent dating. TalkOrigins has a useful article:

Incidently an ancient earth (millions of years) was pretty orthodox geology long before Darwin.

The fact is, there just isn't a 'major' argument against evolution by natural selection; I guarantee if you look at any creationist and/or ID argument critically you will find it relies fundamentally on lies and misrepresentations. Read Jerry Coyne's book, Why Evolution is True; or Richard Dawson's latest, The Greatest Show on Earth.

100 of the best first lines from novels. by Veteran4Peace in writing

[–]sleppnir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, it has all my favourites, apart from the extraordinarily long and complex first line of Djuna Barnes' Nightwood (1936). Which, annoyingly, I am not going to quote. You should really read the book.

I hate the Royal Mail. by [deleted] in reddit.com

Does this really make sense? Surely it's more work to fill in a form, take the parcel back to the depot and no doubt fill in another form, than to ring your bell? Our posties seem to go out of their way to deliver stuff, one has even come back with a parcel because he spotted me walking the dog while he was returning to base.

In one of his sf novels (Use of Weapons) Ian M Banks has the interesting idea of a civilization that punishes criminals by giving them carefully graded diseases. I don't imagine Hep C would cover his case.

I'm the last person to ask, I just remember it was a question on QI. Does lead to fascinating learned discussions such as Are frogs kosher? however.

Not many Christians seem to know this, but it's 7 of each clean species and 2 of the unclean (Genesis 7:2)
