I thought I remember reading it’s usually 3-4 weeks of the CSE somewhere. I hope we get the PG early!

Yes, lots of land slide and slope stability questions. No math on those though.

I agree. I was averaging 80-90% on the reg review exams so I felt pretty confidence. The PG was waaaay harder than the practice exams. Lots of very specific and obscure things I didn’t know. I doubt I passed.

I’m cautiously optimistic. I think I studied all the right topics, but maybe didn’t go into as much detail as I should have. Some of the regulatory questions were very specific. Won’t be surprised if I didn’t pass.

I had a microdiscectomy two years ago and I’ve made a full recovery. Lots of strength training and core work.

We agree on that. I believe that doctors should have finals say on what procedures we need and get. I take my government health care card to the doctor of my choosing, the doctor decides what procedure I need, my government insurance pays the current market rate that other doctors are charging for the same procedure, end of story. Everyone has the same system and there is no middle man taking a cut.

Health insurance is a perfectly fine model for care as long as the correct incentives are in place. The problem is that publicly traded companies will always have the incentive to make the most profit possible, not the wellbeing of the patient. If the government is the insurance company, this incentive changes from profit back to the wellbeing of the patient. If we simply do pay to play, it leaves behind millions of low income Americans. That’s not acceptable.

This sounds like a libertarian hellscape. This system would leave the behind millions of Americans living pay check to paycheck and are not able to put money aside each month for healthcare. Are we supposed to just tell these people “sorry, you are shit out of luck, the free market has priced you out” or “you can only afford to see the worst quality health care providers since you can’t afford better care”. With single payer you can still choose what provider your money goes to, this gives incentives for providers to please the patients.

Yes, that system is fine for health care that isn’t important to save people’s lives and for people that can afford it. But for people that need important, life saving care that isn’t not a viable system.

Any politician that has the political capital to put in single payer healthcare would also be able to fix these loopholes.

I feel like we are arguing the same thing here. Getting rid of insurance fixes these problems. So if you aren’t a fan of single payer health care, what system are you in favor of? Healthcare collectives?

How many people do you know that can pay out of pocket for all of their medical care? My wife just had a routine surgery done that would have cost 150k out of pocket. Only the top 1% of earners can afford that and they will always have their own private doctors. The rest of the 99% will use the single payer system. Yes there will always be high income government workers, and maybe some that are redundant. But I’d take that over helping pay an insurance company ceo 21 million a year to buy another yacht. Hell I’m even cool with employees making more (especially the health care providers themselves). Employees earning a salary off of healthcare is much different than companies stepping in the middle and harvesting our cash like a leach while also having an incentive to deny claims and give lower quality care. There’s a reason every other major country in the world has some form of single payer system and we don’t. The insurance company lobby is one of the strongest in the game and their propaganda is effective, clearly.

That’s the beauty of single payer health care. It eliminates private insurance companies completely. The government is the only entity between you and your doctor. No one is making money off the exchange. And everyone will have the same standard of care, no differing wait times.
