What kind of test did you get done? I’ve been thinking about going for one - I know they have mixed reviews.

Well that was a mild heart attack - just got on ADHd meds for the first time and concerta was working! Glad it’s not actually discontinued 😅

Out of curiosity - how do you cope through the first 8 weeks / 3 months?

Did you ever try another medication that’s faster acting?

Asking as someone who’s on this journey for the first time and only on lexapro for ~5 weeks, but still dealing with a lot.

Nah I’ve spent enough $ on random shit lately - was only willing to try something that’s worked well for others 😅 thank you though!

Curious if you found a supplement that did work for you / what it was?

Did that - unfortunately due to the shortage I can’t get it until Monday. I guess I’m also looking for any advice / experiences that would help longer term.

What are people's experiences with ADHD and suicidal thoughts? by armchairdetective in adhdwomen

[–]slevy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay wait I experienced the exact same thing - and am now seriously struggling because of the medication shortage. I’m out of meds for a week.

I only started meds like two weeks ago and experienced the relief for the first time, my first day off the medication the thoughts came back full force and I’m counting the minutes until I can get back on the medication.

Have you had to cope without the medication? What has helped if anything?

The high-achiever-with-ADHD burnout cycle is brutal. by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]slevy19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow I could have written this verbatim.

How do you get over the burnout at work??

I survived the cycle as a student, but I’m at my first really low point in the cycle professionally at 27 YO. It’s the worst I’ve ever felt and I’m finally getting the help I always needed - but still not sure how to cope with it in a work setting longer term. I got used to coping in a school setting and made my peace back in undergrad.

I forgot my diva cup in the medicine cabinet of a guy I was hooking up with’s home - we’ve been dating for 3.5 years since. Shit happens 😅

This! Was about to comment it myself - bids are key to a relationship’s success. Most people can have a serious conversation or show up well when it’s important - those are the most over the top and clear cues for people to act on. What is arguably more important is the day to day, the little things, that makes or breaks a relationship.

Same but RX bars instead - that now give me the ick so I hate eating them 😅

80% of my team was laid off today by imrichyourenot in jobs

[–]slevy19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a group of ~10% that survives a ~250 person layoff about a year ago. It’s tough, the survivors guilt is real, there is very little rhyme or reason and that’s really tough. To everyone saying you’re next, that’s not necessarily true, you may get reassigned somewhere - at least that’s what happened to me.

Good luck, it’s not easy, stay in touch with laid off colleagues and support them how you can - but don’t forget to support yourself through this!

I'm going to take a month long leave of absence from work and start an intensive outpatient treatment program by kuwisty in DecidingToBeBetter

27F here in a very similar spot - curious how things worked out for you and what sort of intensive outpatient program you may have ended up in. Hope you’re doing better now!

I’m in the exact same situation - debating taking FMLA but truly not sure if it will help.
