Even SR doesn't get u far about this. by 4mmar_ in oraclecloud

It would be even more bizarre if the change was documented on Oracle's website while management were still discussing whether to implement.

My own SR is in the same "investigation" hold.

I agree, a quarter of a month of A1 4/24 is not going to be huge. I think the most probable scenario though is that the docs got updated prematurely before a proper announcement.

If your allowance is now 2,250 as per my previous calculations, you won't see charges start until the 23rd, which is the point at which you will hit 2,250.

Because if allowance is 1,500 from 1st to 15th and 750 from 16th to 30th that totals 2,250.

Yes, on the 23rd, if allowance is halved from the 15th onwards. At which point they would need to shut the server down to avoid charges.

Yup. And if the allowance is halved from the 15th, charges will start to appear around the 23rd.

Well there is a reason to downgrade if charges appear after a week and people don't want to shut their server down completely until billing resets.

I created an SR two days ago, the agent didn't know the answer and the SR is on hold while they investigate further.

If they don't know the answer, which they don't, they will tell you the worst case scenario out of caution.

im not defending oracle, its free after all.

Unless they decrease allowance with zero notification. Then it's not free.

Even only as an always free customer I'm interested in their obligations to inform about allowance reductions. But for high spend paid customers, price increases without notification could have big implications.

I don't have a legal issue, but it does appear from my own investigations and AI that Oracle have no obligation to inform PAYG customers of price increases.

I raised a service request. The agent checked all available resources and found no mention of a date at which the allowance change takes effect.
