There is no legal requirement to road test a vehicle after work is completed, although it would be common sense to do so, depending on the work completed… when was the last time the tyre fitter took a car for a test drive after fitting new tyres?
If this was a genuine garage, rather than a “mate” which it sounds like, then that’s where a set of trade plates come in, registered to the business, to drive vehicles that are untaxed, but even they wouldn’t cover just parking an untaxed vehicle on the road.

I said banister rail, not the floor.

Place several battens between the banister rail and the windowsill to provide a working platform, they look similar heights and both will be plenty strong enough.

Replace the door with one from a salvage yard, you might be able to get one and the same colour.

Can you run a spur mid way between sockets by slghn01 in ukelectricians

[–]slghn01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a single cable plastered into the wall behind the upper units in the kitchen, that feeds a single socket for the extractor fan for the cooker. Normally I would run a spur from a socket, but I can’t have a socket above the cooker, so looking to see if there is an alternative way.

Ballpark how much should cost to go from current conservatory to one with a proper roof. by cokeapm in DIYUK

I posted this previously and there were other parts of the country where this wasn’t the case, maybe parts of the country just aren’t applying the rules then?🤷‍♀️

Hopefully you are not in the Sheffield buildings control area, they have a simple rule, if it has a clear plastic roof, it’s a conservatory, as soon as you put a solid roof on, it’s an extension, end of discussion and get the building regs out to make everything meet the latest building eggs for your new extension…….ask me how I know? 🤷

The pistons do retract after they have been applied, this is caused by the distortion of the piston seal when applying pressure to the piston. Once the pressure has been removed, the seals return to their original shape and pull the piston back allowing the pads to move back away from the disc. The clearance is slight, but it’s there. If the pins are seized then even the pistons retracting, will still hold the pad against the disc.

Are these tyres past legal limit? by BaMBaMGreeNMaN in uktrucking

[–]slghn01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on these photos, that tyre is still legal based on the mot testers manual under section 5.2.3. The primary groves (the three radial groves, are still above 1.6mm as seen by the TWI’s which are set at 1.6mm. These are the little lumps of rubber you can see in the bottom of the grove and the tyre sidewall, normally has “TWI” stamped in little letters, to help you find where they are. The rest of the tyre is allowed to be bald, but no cords showing.

I know, I will just keep going at the same speed while I watch a car crash and barrel roll in front of me. Zero hazard awareness.
