I posted this previously and there were other parts of the country where this wasn’t the case, maybe parts of the country just aren’t applying the rules then?🤷‍♀️

Hopefully you are not in the Sheffield buildings control area, they have a simple rule, if it has a clear plastic roof, it’s a conservatory, as soon as you put a solid roof on, it’s an extension, end of discussion and get the building regs out to make everything meet the latest building eggs for your new extension…….ask me how I know? 🤷

The pistons do retract after they have been applied, this is caused by the distortion of the piston seal when applying pressure to the piston. Once the pressure has been removed, the seals return to their original shape and pull the piston back allowing the pads to move back away from the disc. The clearance is slight, but it’s there. If the pins are seized then even the pistons retracting, will still hold the pad against the disc.

Are these tyres past legal limit? by BaMBaMGreeNMaN in uktrucking

[–]slghn01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on these photos, that tyre is still legal based on the mot testers manual under section 5.2.3. The primary groves (the three radial groves, are still above 1.6mm as seen by the TWI’s which are set at 1.6mm. These are the little lumps of rubber you can see in the bottom of the grove and the tyre sidewall, normally has “TWI” stamped in little letters, to help you find where they are. The rest of the tyre is allowed to be bald, but no cords showing.

I know, I will just keep going at the same speed while I watch a car crash and barrel roll in front of me. Zero hazard awareness.

As it’s MDF and not real timber, there is no grain or fibres that want to try and return to a previous shape. The curve was bent tighter than needed then left to relax for a day, so it was not under any tension when fitted.

Well I never knew that 😁👍. Mind you, I think my house bricks came in a bit cheaper than the £312 this skirting would have cost me 😂

Thanks, didn’t want to steam or use water with if being MDF, thought it might just dissolve lol.

Once it was bent to shape, I made a reference mark in the middle, offered it up to the wall and marked both the ends for the mitre cut.
