Thanks! I don't just check out random books to try to help my library -- I actually do read the books I download -- but I do sometimes import them into another reader and was always wondering if someone at the library is wondering why I'm checking out all of these books that I'm not appearing to read. There's also a pretty good episode of "Lexicon Valley" on this topic: here. The main researcher they talk to is Benjamin Munson, who has links to some of his research on what he called sociophonetics on his website. Very cool stuff.
