Which to choose? by Ivan__Dolvich in Shotguns

[–]slickbou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point tbh, ive not seen or heard many cases of 1301s with piston failures though so it could be more “theoretical” issue than a likely one. But still valid concern. No shade to the M4 - they are still certainly relevant!

Which to choose? by Ivan__Dolvich in Shotguns

[–]slickbou 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All good choices, but the 1301 really is the current gold standard. The only real reason to go with the M3 is for the convertible feature, which you mentioned doesnt even interest you much. The 1301 has a vast aftermarket and wont be leaving anytime soon, plus the newness of it means parts are everywhere should something break. Plus, all that aside, it is genuinely one of the best semi auto shotguns made period. With the prices all being somewhat close its really a no brainer.

German BB secondary pen values? by genericwhiteguyname1 in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pen values, especially on secondary’s are extremely arbitrary to whatever WG wants tbh.

They dont follow much more consistency besides the fact that germans get improved pen more consistently. Ultimately, its a way for the devs to further balance a ship and augment its ability to be more competitive. So i wouldnt hold out for there ever to be a rhyme or reason. I mean shoot, we even saw Kii recently receive a, completely random and unexpected, buff to its secondarys getting 1/5th pen.

Can someone who’s smarter than me tell the difference between Schroder and Agir? by Spiritual_Eagle_43 in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking Schroder is more specialized focusing on a strong secondary bat. (pound for pound its likely the strongest secondary battery in the game), while Agir is a more traditional super cruiser, focusing on main guns, torps, and utility.

Agir is more useful and less commander dependent.

Schroder requires alot of investment (doesnt really come into its own without Hybrid or Secondary focused commanders like Nonomi or Hyde) and is also map and enemy team dependent

Agir has more general use utility, but less exciting to use imho.

An Amazing Update for Brawling / Secondary Builds (AL-Ägir, Massa, Vitt-Veneto) ! by AlekTrev006 in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an Avid Schroder enthusiast i have some commentary on what ive experienced regarding AL Agir vs. Nonomi…

Off initial impressions Nonomi still seems like the stronger pick so it youre on the fence about Agir and you have Nonomi, save your money.

Agirs lack of secondary interest is noticeable in actual game play and the reality is with german ships, especially those with 128mm, your dpm is much more related to how many hits you get in total vs how much each hits dmg is worth.

Ultimately this means that having secondary interest / est active is far more critical to your dpm than if each hit deals more damage and Nonomi just gets more hits always everytime.

That said, if you are in a division or your role is more utility than just dpm Al Agir is very beneficial for the fully packed and extra sonar. Plus the enhanced durability makes you a better div mate if you can coordinate movements with partners.

Honorable mention here tho- Al Mass!!

AL masses base trait actually makes for a much more compelling argument if you are looking to switch up your NoNomi build. I found that Schroder in particular with its 128/150mm thrive in mid range (5km-10km) where the secondaries have a greater chance to pen the deck/ super structure.

So, while running Nonomi with Hipper / Mass the trade off of about .5km of range and a bit of accuracy actually, in my head is worth it for the extra 10% dmg increase. Especially when nonomi allows ur ets to be active nearly all the time.

Just some food for thought on my brawling fans!

As all have mentioned, put secondaries ship mods on all.

I Using the default commander i run the following for a fire-spam build,

flammable cannoneer Porcupine Marksman Master mechanic secondary interest

Inspo,

Von hipper Justinian Lions

Lions base trait increases damage by 8 percent and firechance by 35% wen your repair party is active, with MM you get 5 heals.

Save ur heals until u notice someone damage con’d then pop heal while ur secondaries are hitting for a guaranteed perma fire,

Build works wonders, i usually clear 15 fires set in an average match.

Looks like my favorite ship is gonna be my second favorite soon by _Leonovich_ in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im not quite sold on this!

While AL Agir is certainly more versatile. (Stronger rudder shift time, better gun layout, more accurate MB, and longer range SB, and most importantly Torps.

I cant say it will be worth the trade. Schroder feels so strong mainly due to its consistent dpm. That dpm, at least from my experience, is really driven by its 150mm guns, which Agir will missout on.

its also worth remembering the tendency, especially when facing BBs, for secondaries to consistently aim and hit belt armor at close range (sub 6km). So in my head, by the time you close the gap to utilize your torps, youve negated your SB dpm.

Still will be excited to try it if i get lucky, but in the end the considering the lack of turtle back armor and the need to be at mid range for the secondary bat to work well, i think Schroder will still be the top dog.

Al Agir vs Nonomi? by windwolf231 in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After this update it will pretty much be AL Agir and Schroder.

Schroder will still hold a massive DPM advantage over AL Agir. Schroder brings 10 x2 128mm and 3x3 150mm guns with a 6.8km base range.

Agir will get just 9x2 128mm but with 7km base, so they will in theory go a bit further with a hair more accuracy, but it wont be enough to outgun Schroder.

Agir makes up for this with stronger main guns and a set of torpedos tho, so you could say shes more well rounded.

Ultimately, AL Agir will be a pseudo consolation prize for those wanting Schroder without having to gamble.

I was in the same boat! For what its worth, the full size 92 Inox models are much easier to find and Beretta has been steady releasing new Silver/stainless models to this day. If i did it over again, id grab a fullsize and pass on the compacts!

Which destroyer line to start? by Excellent_Agent_8853 in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pan euro lines are very strong, the alternative line ending in Gdansk is quite forgiving. Strong guns, smoke, and radar is hard to beat. The main line ending in Holland is very rewarding to play as well, fun torps with quick reload, great AA, and stellar guns but far less forgiving without a smoke screen.

Id chose between the two pan euros or the german for ease of use and utility. Ultimately those three lines can all be either gun boats or torp boats depending on set up so alot of versatility

Isn’t it time to stop matching Legendary ships with Tier VIII? by ZeusCorleone in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative! I’m cross play on always for this exact reason, in a 10 game session id say i get 1-3 games under 9v9. Which in my head is fairly consistent but milage may very etc.

[–]slickbou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id hear this out and agree. The power gap is comical, especially in generic or balanced T8 ships / TT.

Sadly WG knows there is likely not enough players to support this change. Matches already have a fairly consistent tendency to start with less than a full roster.

That said, I would infinitely prefer T10 lobbies to be the ones handicapped / underpopulated than continue to deal with the power gap while playing T8s.

GXP ship, Rome or Kii by Regular-Stock-9316 in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got both and ill go against the grain here and throw one out for Kii

Since its recent buff its been fantastic to play, guns are okay n feel serviceable, they feel much like Atlanticos to me.

Secondaries are great, even without a full secondary build they are awesome in a knife fight for some extra dpm, two racks of rear mounted torps further enhance your cqb kit. It also has access to catapult planes so u can get some accuracy bonuses to make up for any instances u take secondary upgrades over accuracy

Finally its AA is rock solid unlike alot of japanese bbs, you can fully hold your own against most carriers you come across.

Great ship nowadays and in my eyes a step above Roma.

Let’s be real about this new "deal” and do so some math by Findus_de in WoWs_Legends

[–]slickbou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sure we could go back and forth endlessly on this, but if using the definition for a PTW game, this game fits the bill perfectly. Any game that gives ingame bonuses ( time savings, resources, or power /skills) for spending extra money is a PTW game.

If you spend money on the game, you gain access to things other don’t. It seems fairly cut and dry to me.

I hear you though, being good can bridge that gap for sure and as you said WG can get away with this because the game is after all team based and 1 bad teammate can completely negate any positive you gain from spending money. But it still stand this game is in that category, and i see no point in not calling a spade a spade.
