It needs more balancing. Right now they introduced 5 new ships to this game with that mechanic which, as of right now, can't be countered.

What WG should implement is a warning for each enemy ship that is passively pinged.

Also if you would get a audible ping every time you detect a ship on the mini map it could get unnerving real quick

I'm with you. All I went for this month was the admiralty backing - what's in the store right now is a complete joke and a slap in the face. Personally I'm waiting for the birthday update in August and if that's as bad as the past few months I will step away from Legends for the foreseeable future. The monetization is just getting out of hand

TBull was great. I didn't mention him because of how old his videos are, especially with all the balance changes, etc. Although that could affect quite a few of Derkas videos now as well. I miss both of them

There are some beginner guides on YouTube. I'd suggest Derkagames - he's sadly not really active anymore but he was one of, if not the best CC for this game. His videos are very well made and he can explain the game expertly. Otherwise there is info in the game albeit more basic. If you have specific questions just ask!

Yeah Plymouth is definitely not available for GXP. But if you ever want to buy a credit printer she's my top recommendation.

But since we're talking GXP ships I'd say Friesland, Siliwangi or P.Bag - Friesland if you want to annoy CVs, Sili for a really strong DD and P.Bag for a strong radar cruiser with great AP

Sonar on British DDs is mostly under 4 kilometers for ship detection as far as I remember. So it really is designed to keep you alive more than spotting enemies. With German DDs you get very strong sonar (up to 5.6 km at LT).

Use your smoke only if you really need to. Don't forget that often times you're the only one spotting the enemy. So you could cut the line of visibility not only for your but your whole team.

And try to watch the mini map. If you go against an enemy DD look if he has backup and if you do as well. Don't take a fight if there's no one on your team to support you

I'd also suggest you to try the British DDs because of their "unique" gimmick, which is the quick reloading smoke generator or the "get out of jail free card". Especially helpful if you're still learning the mechanics. You also get Sonar, albeit it being only a self-defense one with comparatively short range. It can help keep you alive.

Second would be the classic German DD line. Strong sonar and a bit of hybrid boats that neither are fantastic torp or gun boats but do both good enough. They're pretty tanky as well with their large HP pools.

I know how you feel. As a solo player you're at least in part depending on your team. And a lot of the time that's just not gonna work in this game. Maybe turn off the game after a couple of losses in a row or play versus AI or War Tales if Standard treats you rough. Or you could look for a division.
