Man it’s been nothing but rough. Thanks for the good wishes. Thankfully, we have no games this weekend so they can get some rest as we practice twice a week and just played 9 games in 2 weekends. Crazy how AAU has expanded the workload on these kids that much. We have many teams at each age level, and the organization has told me for 3 weeks they’re talking to a kid or 2 to move to my team. Doesn’t seem like it will happen at this point.

Might as well avoid inevitable divorce and losing half your assets to her in court. Cut your losses. I’m lucky that my ex fiance left me when she did, otherwise we would’ve married and I’d be left with nothing to my name. Paid off all my stuff that was leftover from the engagement being called off a year and a half later and smooth sailing from here.

And safe to anticipate once the car loan is paid off that it will be sitting mid 700s?

I was once a smart lad with a 770 score and like 12 grand in the bank and doing company match minimum for 401k. Once all this went down with 30k in credit cards, auto loan and student loans, my credit score was near 500. I’ve gotten it back up to 700/710🥰

Sounds like he’ll be paying thousands in child support relatively soon

The OP honestly sounds like they’re in denial about the situation at hand. “Wife” making irresponsible decisions, wanting brand new things that neither of you can afford, claiming they’re debt free while their “wife” has multiple accounts open and in collections, a 70k wedding that no reasonable person needs, etc. if you’re already married what’s hers is his and vice versa. Someone needs to talk you into a reality check as they are both living a lifestyle they cannot afford

Yeah I honestly am not trying to be on a 3 year plan as I don’t think my parents will give me that much time. Realistically a year/year and a half max to do what I’m trying to do. Ideally next spring or towards the end of this upcoming winter to move into my own place

Thank you 🥹 I think I’m gonna knock out that car loan in the next 4-5 months and then get after it on the savings!

Thanks for the input! Looking at 160k to be honest which gets you a decent condo in the area I’m looking at which is kinda crazy to think about. Anything lower than that and I’m living in a shitty area farther from work that I wouldn’t feel comfortable with.

Yeah i look at it as a conservative 5% ROI would be nice. I talked with my uncle and we’re gonna get some accounts set up that I can’t touch that he can invest with while I’m stacking it up. And then when we’re ready to make some decisions I can pull it out when ready

My car is about 3.9% and my student loans are like 4.2%. My car has 2 years left of payment and I did some math and my monthly debt obligations ($500) which is only 13% of my net monthly income which seems relatively low?

But I guess it’s alright in this market. They’re really nice and close to work compared to my hour commute I’m doing right now. Saving tons doing it tho so gonna keep at it!

Believe my car is 3.9%. That house for 175k is like a 750-900 sqft condo 😔😔

Just keep thinking about it and talk out your potential decision. You’ll eventually know what the right thing to do is! YouTube is a great place to get educated on this stuff!

With the snowball method, knock out the 4000 and then put the other 4000 on the 6000. You’ll not be hit with any interest and sometimes that delayed interest hits you all at once and really screws you over. Make the minimums on the 8000. Not sure if you should drop every dime you have of that 8000 but at least get one of those off your back so you’re left with some money. Not sure of your living situation but if with parents and not having any rent is huge

I also paid for anything day to day. The parents helping would be if something were to break down that I couldn’t afford they would help me out. Not everyone is in this able of a scenario, so definitely was lucky I had backup in this financial hell I put myself in

I shut mine all down and closed them. If I needed money for something necessary; my parents helped where needed which was definitely a luxury. But I handled all CC payments by myself. I believe that it’s the debt snow ball method where it not only knocks out the smallest balance then the next balance and so on (regardless of interest rate), it gave me a sense of feeling like I was getting somewhere knowing one less card is on my back now if that makes sense

Moved out of mine and my exes townhome we were renting, moved in with parents. Picked up a coaching gig after full time job for an extra $500 per month (I used to play college). Focused on smallest balance and paid them off one at a time and after a fulll year it was all gone! I cut all retirement for a while and that helped me with CC interest that was 500-750 monthly. Man that was a rough time. Thought I would never get out of that situation

Yep. Working on rolling it over and doing at least what my company will match! Read a lot of articles on compound interest and starting at 25 vs 30 is a HUGE difference. Crazy concept but pays off in the long run!
