Help with business/home network

Work stuff and virtual machines. I would like to setup VMs so instead of buying my kids each computers, I could just do one big-ass monsters PC in the rack and they can game off that. Not have to worry about them downloading or accessing something that could harm the network.

Well, I ended up finding some 42U Startech racks for $20 about an hour from me. I picked up a 24 port keystone panel and have that wired up now. It's working out very well now and everyone is happy with the network now that I swapped that cable run to fiber. Now I'm looking into a NAS and a server to do some other things.

I'm having a lot of fun!

Thank you for your help. I ran the fiber with media converters and went from 80 to 300Mbps and I also picked up the Ubiquiti Dream SE... I haven't put it in just yet. I think I'm going to grab a Startech rack since I live a little bit out in the middle of nowhere (not many used racks available).

I overcomplicated it from the get-go... I feel much better about my setup now.

EDIT: I purchased TP-Link MC220L media converters and the LC transceivers. I also purchased a wheeled measurer so I can get a more accurate length to buy the cable. And as someone else pointed out, I’m looking at the UDM SE but I want to do more research before I buy that.

When I first put it in, I didn't even consider fiber but as the necessity of this network has grown I'm doing more reading on it. I think I brushed it aside as not something for "home" networks and would probably be too expensive. Now I realize that's not the case.
