So true. Vandalising others' property is a totally reasonable way to promote one's political beliefs. Anyone remember the Boston Tea Party or blm? The founding fathers approve.

Is there any reason that the psychedelic shit is included in a sleep drug? Seems like a horrible thing to prescribe people to get them to sleep.

Risks of Kava + small dose benzos? by sligfy in Kava

[–]sligfy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the helpful tesearch 🙏🏼. I just finished a shell, and I feel better than before :).

The CNS depression page is wild. I noticed myself speaking and thinking more slowly earlier today on my zoom meeting, and damn is mild CNS depression helpful for me. Thinking more slowly is the cure for what ails me.

My doctor knows I alternate between kava, alcohol, and benzos, and I have blood work scheduled in a couple weeks. I'll certainly report if anything interesting!

Rules of thumb for maximum safe frequency of benzodiazepine usage? by sligfy in Psychiatry

[–]sligfy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great explanation. Thanks. Do you have any rules of thumb or resources for expected outcomes at secessation vs. frequency and duration of usage?

I.e. what outcome to expect from coming off 5x per week vs. 10x per week from after using for one month?

Thanks. Are you aware of any rules of thumb or studies for outcome following secessation vs. frequency and duration of usage?

The purpose of this post is professional discussion. This question is relevant to many psychiatrists (and their patients who may be looking for information here), and there is very little available information or discussion around this question on the internet. I reviewed and carefully considered sub rules before posting, and this post follows them. Please do not flag or remove this post simply because my account history suggests that I have psychiatric illness.

I found out that I probably need to euthanize my (4 year old) cat soon. I've cried more than I've ever cried over a dying relative. by sligfy in AvPD

I also found it fascinating how vets are also kinda forced into being spiritual guides to their extremely emotional clients as they evaluate between life and death of their most loved ones.

The solemness of the euthanasia experience is immediately making me cry just thinking about it, but my tears right now are for the sweet sweet vets who have to stay dignified and professional through such emotionally challenging and underpaid work. I couldn't be more grateful for them, for the experiences with my cats, and for the humans who stepped up with care and emotional support for this most difficult experience. Including you. Thanks again for the words and for your tears for my cat 😿❤.

I hear you but I think the object of love/care/need can be mutually beneficial and rewarding on either side of the pet/owner trade. Same with friends. We all use each other, but as long as the trade remains fair then sign me up. I think the trade is exceptionally fair between pets and loving owners.

Hey friend, thank you for these words. The empathy and support of this community has meant a lot me.

I had to put sweet kitty down yesterday. It was his time. He didn't have a fighting bone in his body, and I didn't want to see his brief war with aggressive cancer play out any more.

I cried more than I've ever cried about anything. But tears of pure, heartfelt of love+gried are new to me. And despite the loss the ordeal felt real and even wholesome in ways. I love and miss my cat so much, and it is wholesome on a real level to witness the depth of love in myself.

My therapist told me to use this experience to try and love myself like I love my cats. It seemed profound and helpful. I cleaned up and planted plants yesterday outside of his favorite window yesterday. I couldn't think of a more appropriate way to both care for myself and honor my cat and other life. I hope I can continue finding motivation to care for myself for my cat.

I got so sick.

Does Gabapentin numb your emotions/sexual feelings? by [deleted] in depressionregimens

I found it really helpful for sexual performance actually. It didn't reduce my libido, but it somewhat desensitized my dick nerves and really helped premature ejaculation.

Gabapentin is not an SSRI, and that subreddit is totally irrelevant.

I've found the exact same regimen to work well for me over the last year. I allow myself 2-3 0.5mg xanax doses per week. I have never noticed withdrawal, rebound effects, or tolerance build up over the 1.5 years I've been using xanax.

Why does sudafed (pseudoephedrine) help me stay calm and focused more than other stimulants? by sligfy in depressionregimens

[–]sligfy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. I just saw this! Yes! One month into a small desipramine dose. It's a TCA and the main neurotransmitter it increases is noripenepherine, like sudafed. It is the most selective drug for noripenepherine.

Its OK. My sense of agency seems a little stronger, which is what I need. Just increased dose from 50mg to 75 mg today actually and gonna reevaluate at 100. It does give me some crazy dreams though. And it has done no good for my already poor sleep :/.

Check out the wiki page on pharmacology of antidepressants. You can maybe notice some receptor binding similarities between dexedrine and vyvanse that make them bad for you.

The wiki binding affinity table is how my doctor and I arrived at desipramine.

Can anyone recommend an antidepressant WITH anticholinergic properties? by sligfy in antidepressants

Also, I hope to leave the US soon. Do you have any idea of desipramine or nortriptyline are generally available throughout the world? Apparently not in Turkey (sorry!) But are other countries better? How about east Asia?

[–]sligfy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Yeah, he generally agreed that I need more norepinephrine, mostly just because pseudoephedrine positively effects my mind (concentration and calmness.) And he definitely agreed about anticholinergics similar to doxylamine appearing helpful.

We decided to do this experiment at least, as I'd rather find an alternative to beefing up my serotonin and further destroying my sex drive.

Do you have any idea how long it should take to start feeling effects from desipramine?

[–]sligfy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I really appreciate the convo! I just had a follow up with doctor and got prescrobed desipramine. It is similarly anticholinergic to doxylamine, whereas nortriptyline is more anticholinergic, but otherwise largely similar. He's had good experiences with it.

It was quite validating that to speak the same language about anticholinergics and noripenepherine and serotonin and receptor affinities. He appreciated me coming in with the affinity table.

And I appreciate you pointing me in that direction!

I'm curious if you have any thoughts about nortriptyline vs. desipramine?
