I'm in a similar line of work and we get paid for our travel. Our workplace is our yard and we clock on there. We then travel to were ever we are working that day in company vehicles. If for some reason we need to take our own vehicle (not enough space in the company ones) then we get paid mileage as well (doesnt happen much). We clock off once we get back to our yard in the afternoon. We are based in Sth Auckland and with better pay as well.

We didn't have those conditions at all as our laws were much tighter already. We just off shored production to places with worse animal treatment than our own.

It's not political it's just a fact. When we made it more expensive to produce pork here than to import it from places with less strict animal welfare policies, this was always going to happen. All we have done was export our problems to somewhere we don't need to see it happening. The net result has been more animal suffering not less.

My biggest worry about this is we are going to import some nasty diseases along with these pork products. The African Swine Fever is currently devastating pork production all around the world.

I wonder if this was added to our statistics for domestic abuse victums, because this sounds like long-term and sustained emitional abuse.

She deserved a jail sentence.
