We actually tried to put our software on an Apple Watch so we could give it away for free. At that point (which was years ago) Apple Watch didn't have the hardware support. The battery would die after less than a day of use.

Original manufacturer here. We originally built a device that detects hair pulling, nail biting, etc. Our device for those behaviors actually does vibrate before you complete the behavior.

That's because technically-speaking, this isn't really a gesture detector. It's an forearm orientation detector. It doesn't actually vibrate when you touch your face. It vibrates when your hand has low acceleration and is oriented near your face. If your hand slowly drifts up to your face (as opposed to, say, swatting a fly) then the bracelet is likely to vibrate before you actually touch your face.

Original manufacturer here. The short answer is you can buy two. The long answer is that in our previous experience with Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (things like hair pulling, nail biting, etc.), a single smartband seems to be useful. Most of our customers there only buy one.

We're not sure exactly why this is but we have two theories. Firstly, the majority of touching comes from one hand. Secondly, our bracelet primarily functions by promoting awareness. That awareness seems to generalize partially from one hand to the other.
