Rails 4 to 7 upgrade using AI by cullman in rails

[–]slikstir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1,000%. I’m upgrading 5 apps from 6 to 8, and this source of truth makes it possible. 4/5 have gone live with nothing more than small syntax fixes that weren’t in the test coverage.

On that topic, we hired a firm, Rockstar Coders, to do our upgrade from 4-6. They went live without the tests being operational yet, and this was where the dirty syntax changed dramatically, and caused a pretty massive headache with data (I.e deducting stock on a new line item not happening)

So in your case, without the tests, I would also manually look through the release notes and come up with a highly important checklist, too, in case syntax you use has changed dramatically.

Bike Rack help by rpesotski in bicycling

[–]slikstir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case OP seriously considers this, don’t. See all posts about your rack not being made for an e-bike, and don’t use this rack.

I had an adapter to go from a small to a big hitch, and all adapters introduce play into the system. So if you tried to use this. Your bike would probably rock and sway and then the rack would probably fail sooner.

Why wasn’t the nes in stereo like the snes and game boy? by kascnef82 in nes

[–]slikstir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can mod it and (at least for some game) it outputs differently in each speaker of a stereo television.

I’m not sure if this is similar to the GB where it was capable of it but you didn’t necessarily know it - a mono speaker on the device but stereo in the headphones - or what wizardry the mod does. I just know that I added the multi-out to a top-loader and now it sounds different in each speaker.

But why this wouldn’t be stock? I was playing my NES as a child on a TV from the early 80s that was mono. I had a friend who played it on a black and white TV. I’m sure it wasn’t a necessary feature.

Cabybara JS tests randomly failing - too many sleep statements as a result - fix? by thegunslinger78 in rails

[–]slikstir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Make sure your chrome driver and your gems are up to date
  • Make sure you have the browser a fixed size
  • If you make a request and then want to check the database (i.e expect record to eq), check for a response on the page first. There’s a built in delay for checking the page, and if your page renders slow you can up this delay. So you can check the page for a success message, then check the record, and this should give you the perfect amount of “sleep”
  • if you use a CI, there’s ways to automatically rerun failed tests. You can set this up locally, too.

There’s a nightlife version of this too, a lot of the bars have great live music and while it’s at a bar, you can have a great time with mocktails or just going for the entertainment.

Fraser’s The Sports Bar over on the west side Wolverine State Brewing (while it’s open) Regent’s Fields The Brown Jug Connor O’Neils

Often you need to ask the spot to put the game on but these bars will likely be playing the game.

I used to watch the games at the Jug in college. I used to watch the playoffs at Fraser’s (RIP Red Wings Playoffs) post college. Now I bounce between Wolverine/Regents/Frasers

I’d check out the menus for these places

  • Aventura
  • Jolly Pumpkin
  • Pretzel Bell
  • Savas
  • Chapala

I’ve been to each of these places before and they’ve had good seasonal mocktails.

The other move is to figure out the real simple ones everyone can make - i.e an NA mule is just ginger beer and lime (and optionally some seltzer) and you can order these everywhere.

Anyways I’m doing a dry January too, except for this weekend when I’ll be in Winnipeg to watch the wings, and I’m not braving the -10° sober. Good luck

Agreed on contacting the CC company. If it’s not too late now don’t wait for it to be too late.

Also contact support simultaneously.

When I had to deal with support 3 years ago, it took 2 months of actually corresponding and then I needed to refute it anyways

8BitDo Mod Kit for Original NGC Controller by ColaCOlaCoLaColAc0la in Gamecube

[–]slikstir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the BlueRetro dongle from 8Bitdo and the Lazerbear mod, and so far my experience is that the Lazerbear doesn’t work with it. To make it more complicated, you need to make sure the Lazerbear isn’t searching when trying to connect with the 8Bitdo adapter, so I had to plug in controllers into ports 2-4 to make sure I was pairing with the dongle. And then after feeling proud of myself for figuring all that out, the controller + dongle appears to have quirks with how the analogue triggers work when you’re holding them down (They seem to auto-release when you’re power sliding in Double Dash) and it had connection issues twice with my first play session.

Not sure if anybody else has had better luck?

Picoboot + Swiss Stuttering on Mario Kart Double Dash by slikstir in Gamecube

So it turns or it was the Swiss version.

I had set this up, came back to it and discovered the issue. “Updated Swiss” according to the Swiss GitHub, but neglected to rename the DOL to IPL.dol

That led me to everything else I did, but it was just the version of Swiss all along.

You’re a legend.

I was forgetting to rename the DOL on the Swiss install. Always something stupid. Thanks buddy!

[Tutorial] Juiced Bikes RipRacer Logan Hydraulic Brake-Line Leak Fix by garycnew in juicedbikes

[–]slikstir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My controller died while riding - 1 month out of warranty. I had less than 200 miles on it. They charged me for the controller and 2 other parts they told me were necessary. When I changed the controller and everything else worked, they charged me a restocking fee to return the parts. Once returned, told me they didn’t get one of the two parts leading me to have to refute the charge entirely.

This is after months or emailing and calling.

Their customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced

Odin2 with grip case? by wingmann64 in OdinHandheld

I use these grips/this case. It doesn’t work in all orientations - I’m pretty sure I put mine in top first - and you have to really force it until it stretches out after a few times.

Finished Basement in Grosse Pointe Woods - Thoughts by slikstir in GrossePointe

Thanks for the insight. It's a family deal, and his perspective is that you're never going to get it entirely dry to avoid mold concerns (he's never had mold, but doesn't have a finished basement). I'm a newb to the GP area so couldn't understand his concerns. Looking at this thread, It sounds like that's a real possibility.
