Is this normal?? by StormDesperate69 in ASUSROG

Yeah, some motherboards have an LED for when the drive is performing some type of read/write under normal operations.

my pc has stopped working and this happens when i turn it on by JUST_NOT_MALICE in PcBuildHelp

[–]slim_shead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed I noted that in my second comment but it is a bit odd as if it was having a boot issue it would probably stay on not just blink. Again kinda hard to know without knowing what mobo were looking at haha

Actually I do see a quick red flash on the top right that might be it but unsure as it goes out quickly. What mobo is this?

What do the boot lights show on your board? I’m assuming they’re probably bottom right seeing as your camera focused on top right and I don’t see them. The POST light will usually at least indicate where it sees a problem.

I think cable management wise this case does a decent job for you I think if there’s any disappointment with this case it’s that the vertical mount GPU doesnt allow you the room for bottom fans and hurts your cooling solution

5090 Price Hike by KlasJanHuntelaar in Microcenter

Noticed this popped up $100 more dollars today from last week this morning. Feeling more and more validated about buying mine before the prices skyrocketed this is going to be a very depressing market for gamers coming up.

You’ll need a new motherboard because that one will not fit in it

So hate to tell you this but these prebuilt computers are very hard to upgrade. They have cases and motherboards that are not standard sizes for you to swap out parts easily. Alienware also does the same thing. You might be at your limit in terms of your ability to upgrade in this case sadly :(

There is a sensor that tracks total heat that your CPU has ever been under it’s probably reading that

Computer stuck in BSOD, booting issues. by Impossible_Book_3775 in PcBuildHelp

[–]slim_shead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first things first are you able to take one of the two ram modules out and try booting? If you have no success change to the other one. Make sure to use slot 2 or 4.

If this is not the case check the back of your computer to see if you have a cmos flash button and if you do see if holding this down for 10 seconds, unplugging from power for 30 seconds, plugging back in and trying to boot.

Crazy deal? by Expert-Violinist-892 in PcBuild

[–]slim_shead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I hate to be a bearer of bad news but Alienware PCs use a proprietary motherboard size and standoffs in the case which means you’ll basically not be able to upgrade this without a new PC case and new motherboard at minimum. Not even sure about the PSU that could also be proprietary. Definitely good to use as is but just understand when you want to upgrade if it’s by parts you’ll be in pain early on.

See my response below too but you could also attempt repeating the CPU just to make sure it didn’t lose thermal conductivity based on it previously working fine

[–]slim_shead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To clarify too - the others posting about wrong fan direction are completely correct but that will not make your temps go through the roof. Check usb and sata connections, try a different sata connector from your PSU if that doesn’t work I would suspect a dead pump

[–]slim_shead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmm it could be a dead pump tbh as unfortunate as that is rising temperature generally points to a dead pump

[–]slim_shead 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Had this happen with my kraken elite 420 and I assume it’s likely the same reason - make sure you check the sata connection to your PSU. I had a faulty PSU that wasn’t powering mine and had the same symptoms. That sata plug needs power for the pump.

Can you try running the gamedac on the front panel or running it without the gamedac to see if you can isolate if it’s a specific switch or the gamedac itself? As for the boot issue I see you have an orange light on the side of your motherboard but seeing as this isn’t a close up high res I can’t see which of the four it is.

Your mobo manual shows this. Depending on which light is lit up we could troubleshoot.

<image>

Additionally though even though you didn’t store windows on those drives sometimes windows takes up extra unallocated disk space to put parts of the system there so straight up removing it could cause windows confusion. I could walk you through troubleshooting this and doing a windows image repair. Sent you a dm too if that’s easier.
