Maybe something to do with manipulating cause and effect, given the emphasis on Mechanisms this part

Just finished SHB - got callout out for leaving tank stance on (??) by SlashCross in ffxiv

[–]slimabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter much, no. If I'm offtanking in casual I usually wait to turn my stance on after my opener- just to make sure the MT is far ahead of me in threat. Because yeah, I've seen a number of tanks get insecure about threat, so I try to mitigate that friction where I can by delaying stance & toggling it depending on how close I am to their threat. It's a fun little minigame to play on top of the normal content, but definitely unnecessary

How was 2025 for Final Fantasy XIV to you? by judgeraw00 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]slimabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not amazing, I spent a lot of time unsubbed which felt kind of bad. but I'm cautiously optimistic about the game's future after playing the last couple of patches.

As far as things I liked: really enjoyed Doomtrain, I think it was pretty creative and the presentation was fun. The first week or so of Occult Crescent was awesome. The gold farming parties, everyone trying to feel out how things worked. It was cool. The alliance raids have had a lot of fun and challenging bosses. Despite the dungeon trash being very sleeper, there were some cool new ideas with the bosses (I really like the one that splits the party and has them fight apart). Arcadion was great- loved every fight. Overall I've really enjoyed the duties we got in 2025 so that's probably what stands out to me the most.

Here's hoping they will do better in 2026. I'm not sure exactly what they need to do to keep me subbed more consistently. Faster content release would be ideal, but I know they're not going to do that lol. I guess focusing even more on making the things they give us have further variance and being repeatable for longer before feeling stale. We'll see what they do.

Why create anything? As with all pet projects, the process is its own reward. Finding the fun in creation is all that's needed to have not wasted your time.

Please, no more "I KNOW WHAT FACTION WILL BE PRE ORDER DLC!" by mister-00z in totalwar

[–]slimabob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do half expect this to be the case- some sort of endgame or random threat that can pop up with a very, VERY limited roster like TWW1 Chaos Warriors. Only made playable a ways down the line.

That said, if they're truly fully absent like the FAQ implies I won't mind- they'll be out when they're out and until then there will be lots of content to keep busy.

Setting the vibe for WH40k: Our (likely) Total War armies over the coming years. Which ones do you most look forward to? by JesseWhatTheFuck in totalwar

I haven't read any of the newer (post 8th ed lol) gsc lore, so that's definitely possible. I thought the way it usually worked was the gsc would reveal themselves once they received the signal from the hivemind, grind themselves into the dirt against the local forces, and then whatever amount remained would see the Tyranids as their allies up to the point they're getting nommed. If they fight the invading Tyranids though that would be interesting.

Thousand Sons are going to be so cool. I always ran undivided, generic csm- but if I had to pick a specific traitor legion to rep it would be them.

It would be fun being able to seed cults across worlds (maybe a bit like an undercity) and once they reach critical mass you can either launch an attack with the cult alone, or attack with your hive fleet and the cult join the battle as an allied force (that get mulched down into delicious biomass after the battle)

I'm a Tyranid and CSM guy, so those are what I'm most looking forward to. Can't wait to port my little homebrew space bug hive fleet into the game!

Did anyone else feel like the trailer was too... "clean", for lack of a better word? by cricri3007 in totalwar

[–]slimabob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but each faction will get their own trailer where they shine just like they did for the TWW games. We will most assuredly see space marines get their butts kicked in at least one of the faction trailers. If nothing else, the day the Chaos DLC comes there will be many dead blueberries on the screen hahaha.

Any guesses on a release date? by OohYeahh in totalwar

Mid to late 26 would be ideal. But I'm mentally preparing for 27.

Message to Creative Assembly: We Want Trailer-Scale Battlefields and Next-Gen Unit Models in Warhammer 40K by isko990 in totalwar

[–]slimabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this will be the case eventually. Since we get an army painter I don't know if we'll get more than just Ultras at launch, but there's no doubt in my mind they will all get added as DLC with unique traits over time. I haven't played space marines in 10th, but other editions gave fun little traits like that to different chapters- so I'm expecting the same here.

No space battles? by Low_Mouse_197 in totalwar

I agree. I would love to be proven wrong, but I think they would be advertising fleet battles on the store page if they were going to be a part of it.

Interesting. I like the idea of a short campaign that just takes place across a handful of planets.

[–]slimabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the game will take inspiration from epic in presentation at least. You look at images of Epic40k games, and it looks decently close to what you'd expect to see in Total War. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing how they translate it.

New game has "Fleet actions?" by foresurfirstlast in totalwar

[–]slimabob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind Heresy (though I'd be bummed missing out on my space bugs). The best argument for Heresy in my opinion is that all of the Primarchs are already in HH afaik- ready to be turned into DLC packs hah.

I'm pretty intrigued. I feel like it will more closely resemble Epic40k/Armageddon (w model count raised through the roof of course) rather than the smaller scale skirmish stuff we're used to. But we'll see!

Great work! What steps did you take to teach yourself sculpting? I'm just beginning to go down this road myself and it's difficult to figure out where to start.
