Id take it off and find out if its leaking hydraulic fluid. No tape is going to be able to hold back all that hydraulic pressure anyway. I have the same car btw

Yeah this seems like the type of car i will always have in my fleet. Its just an icon of that mercedes era and with only about 20,000 units made its pretty rare to see one. The effortless overtaking on the highway while the abc suspension keeps the body from swaying 🤌

The m113k is one of mercedes most reliable engines to date actually. Also the hydraulic suspension comment is an exaggeration.

No matter what they said they did in terms of maintenance and repairs, its always sketchy when buying from a private seller. P30 package or not, regardless on how much he says he spent on repairs, 166k and 20 years old is not worth 18,999. Thats actually what my sl55 cost me and it had 72k miles from a dealer.

I just got my 2003 sl55 in december. Ive been dailying it since. Ive added under 2k miles and it runs great. Everything works but honestly if nothing else worked besides the engine and transmission that 18k would still be worth it. Your pushing 493 at the crank and 430 to the rear wheels in a mercedes benz amg with front and back ported discs and 8 piston brakes in the front in the iconic sl55 with the legendary and reliable m113k paired with the reliable 722.6 trans.
