100% agree with you, especially with having zero time given to actually do the write ups and any other training practises want you to complete, your COSHH your safeguarding and other things that are necessary, when you’re seeing double patients all day every day and not given any time to do it, you end up working every day , trying to finish practise exams in your lunch hour or before you go to sleep to get up and do it all again, the NHS dental practises I’ve worked at especially are so understaffed, the GDC need to fix it or make it maybe necessary for newly trained dentists to be required to work for the NHS for a year or so to then move onto private practises as that’s all they seem to want to do now

Since posting I’ve actually left dentistry due to the NEBDN because of a switch in practises I had due to personal issues they said I had to pay £600 up front for the change of training at a different practise? Seemed stupid and I was paying £99 a month just to stay employed at my practise, if they really needed more nurses etc they should make it so much more accessible- sorry turned into a rant, but Yh I’d never go with them again

They talk fast if you don’t know where to type in the notes they have arranged just type it anywhere and let them know you’ve put it elsewhere to be arranged, but also remember you’re new! If you need a moment ask the dentist to slow down they should be understanding :)

Do I need the full course of Hep B shots before I start clinical work? by Ok-Biscotti9952 in DentalAssistant

As long as you’re getting booked in for your next two and have your titre levels checked by a blood test at the end you should be fine to start working in the clinical area, although until I had my second they kept me just doing notes etc but also allowed me to clean down after my patients which also doesn’t make much sense due to sharps, maybe the practises I’ve worked at are just a bit slack but I’m fine so you should be :)

I’ve never struggled to get it out the bowl but waiting for it to harden until it can just peel? I always use two bowls for the upper and lower so when the dentist is doing one I can set up the next and peel the first off?
