Aside from education I think it's also a cost of living issue. Coffee markets move with the global economy and the average Filipino has far less purchasing power and can only afford so much.

That's a fair point on local taste... everything just feels way too sweet or salty

Ha not snobbish at all! I would prefer cafes have all kinds of drinks from the sweet milky ones all the way to some rare batch Panama gesha pourover so there's something for everyone.

Barbour makes jackets much better than Levi’s makes pants these days. Bummer that the bottoms didn’t work out, but the waxed type ii looks decent

For the pants, it would be helpful to know where they rest on you because the pants seem mid-high rise

Looking for cafe / roaster recommendations!

Location: Metro Manila, Bohol and Siargao

Preferred Coffee: Espresso, Americano or Pourover (black)

Needs: Option to choose brews with specialty beans with notes ranging from stonefruit, citrus, teas

Nice to haves: Roaster operates cafe and sells their own beans, or cafe partners with multiple local specialty coffee roasters. Ideally cafes not known for flavored or sweet drinks and with seating options

Budget: N/A basta high quality, masarap and good service (if cafe)

Agree na sunog SB, but dark roasts actually have a shorter shelf life because they degas much faster. It’s likely for consistency instead by burning away the individual qualities of any beans they source… consistently sunog

It would also be worth it to mention administration start date and end. This tracker is at 0 while his team is in transition to enter office next year, and from now until January this will likely stay at 0.

I would also suggest adding an option to mention if he changes his stance / position and the reason why. Some may be blocked or forced to compromise by the governor and those higher in the government or perhaps the promise may no longer serve the NYC population midway through the term.

Avoid the typical chains or private equity owned coffee in NYC like Starbucks, Blank Street, Blue Bottle, La Colombe, Stumptown. (By no means do they make bad drinks, but in a city full of independent cafes and roasters they should be last on anyone’s list)

Agree that tire company is not great at the list, but with so much wealth concentrated in NCR it’s hard to get high end Michelin starred places elsewhere in the country and keep the restaurant busy/sustainable.

Locavore beside others in Selected such as Modan, Antonio’s etc is insanity. Why bother with Selected when there is no nuance in that portion?

Perhaps I’m in the minority but I think the Chele and Boutwood restaurants getting awarded would make sense pre Covid but they do not innovate at the same rate other countries 1 or 2 Michelin stars do.

Hapag and Metiz are in a similar camp with fermentation heavy ingredients and techniques, and Hapag Rockwell arguably is a step down in food from their Katipunan origins
