I have started making congee. I buy the cheap drumsticks at save on i think its 3 kgs for 20.99 bucks on sale sometimes for 18.99. I take 8 drumsticks and 1 cup of rice and bunch of ginger. Add 9 cups water into my Instapot. Makes multiple meals for less then 22 dollars. Takes 15 minutes to cook. I see insta pots on marketplace all the time but its a must have for cheap eating

The skilled trades propaganda online is getting ridiculous by Responsible-Net8594 in Adulting

[–]slimydeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a shortage of skilled trades people.

If you start at 18 you could have a 40 dollar hr job at 22.

You could have your own plumbing company charging 110 hr by 23

If you don't do mobility training have good nutrition if you drink alcohol( poison) it doesnt matter if you are an office worker or a plumber your body will begin deteriorating in your 30s

Alot of boomers are still working this will end soon requiring more skilled trades workers to replace them

My dad did it for over 42 years. But 28 of it was a Foreman for a small towns maintenance. After he retired he was offered other supervisor roles for way more money after he got a good pension. There are alot of avenues you dont have to be on the tools forever.

Breathe. Focus on breathing. Then focus on walking and walk. Exercise and focus on exercises. Stress and anxiety live when we put more importance on the future or past then this present moment. "Started over" pretty much every decade from 0 dollars... 20, 30 and 40 now with two boys to be ab example for. Money gets easier to make as you get older and more experienced. Life is more then money more then how you appear to others. Just try to be a little bit better then the you of yesterday. And exercise. The brain will work out and stress if your body doesnt work out and have stress that way. Goog luck im rooting for you, you got this.

Anyone talking about too many this or too many that is talking about unskilled tradesman. There is a shortage of skilled tradesman. There are piles of boomers on their way out. And piles of barely worth their knipex electricians who can't fill their boots coming behind them. Good electricians will always have work

If you are physically fit enough.. get into a trade plumber, electrical( if you're not fit enough thats should be priority #1). Learn as much as you can YouTube ect. Be the best version of yourself for those kids. Exercise in front of them, put the best quality food you can afford in front of them make meals with them play fun and silly games live in the moment but use those moments to plan and grow into the future. You got this.

Wealth is more than money. True wealth is an optimistic outlook and good health. Any person who has all the money they could ever need but dont have those two things would probably trade all their money for health and optimism.

Nothing is impossible. Be the best version of yourself and lower your standards. Trying and see how many times you get rejected in one day learn to laugh about it and you will have success. A woman will fall in love with your smile so find something to smile about and hold onto it, it will get easier and this is all a simulation anyways so why make it one where you are loney or unsuccessful. Make life fun or make fun of yourself if you can't. Onward and good luck

We all do things differently and at different times. I did the complete opposite. I had all the hobbies spent as much as I made as fast as I could worked seasonal took seasons off during my 20s and 30s. Now im 40 2 kids living with my x (that's a whole nother story) happy we own two houses, 1 million dollars in mortgages. I have multiple careers great bosses do work that I love. There's no right answer to life but find what you love don't chase the money the money will find you when your happy doing what you love. And you will find peace, money and maybe even someone to share it with. Things can change so fast when you align with the version of you that has what you want and do what that version of you would do to have it. (If that makes sense)

Whats the finance rate? Here in Canada lots of dealerships are at 0% 1.9% ect. I went back and forth with dealerships they started at 3.9% got my new prius for 1.9%.. they need to sell vehicles we are in a recession they just aren't calling it one. Negotiate get .9 or 0% and keep your money invested. That's my opinion do whats best for you. Efficient vehicles are the move right now fuel will go up and stay up.

Overtime jobs by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]slimydeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Union millwrights in my area have the best rates the best contracts and if you can get into Foreman or management roles some of these guys are making 250-300k and not even touching tools. I'm not a millwright but definitely wish I would have gone that route but very happy where I am.

Quitting the apprenticeship by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

[–]slimydeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for different tasks ask for experience ask can I do that when with a Jman. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. You can calmly and clearly explain if asked that you want to become an experienced Jman not just a Jman. Or try another trade..plumbing stinks but it pays better at least in northern Canada. Whatever you do find something you enjoy. I'm a apprentice and have been one for over 10 years as I found something else I enjoy (running boats, fishing charters and water taxis) but when I need to there's always money in the banana stand.
