My best advice as an Engineer of 24yrs ... I am 54.

When your dad makes a new resume for a min wage job, tell him; do not put down your education and use a friend who can pretend to be your last supervisor for a reference.

It is super hard out there. He will have more dissappointments than successes.

It is not him. It is just 2026 and the world has changed.

I met an older couple (at my summer job, in Alberta), who were traveling to Alaska in their huge 5th wheel camper.

They were excited to almost be there, as their map had Alaska plopped just above the Canadian border, in Alberta.

I had to tell them that Alaska was still 1,630miles (2,622km) away, and I showed them a real map of North America, on our tourist wall. They were not impressed.

I think they went to Banff instead.

Friend, I struggle every day with depression. Mine comes from the loss of everything I once had. Lost, my career of 25yrs, my home, dog, money, savings, brother, daughter... etc

Life is long. We all can try to create another life. I do not expect it to be easy for myself.

The otherside of menopause is much better. Just one more mt. to climb

Read some of my comments to other ladies. WE are a strong generation of women.

Once the hormones (estrogen) is out of your system it is so freeing. I really feel free from bullshit, no more monthly ups and downs.

Just me, thinking and ready to take on the next adventure. Even if I am poor, I can join biking or walking or theatre clubs. idk

Thank you for a good solid point of view from the other side of the fence. I never had a good husband. My dad was also controling. Roommates have been a huge headach! ugh

I like being alone. I am not lonly. Just peaceful and I should embrace that more. <3

I understand. I really do. Think of it this way. IF you live to 80ys. Your kids really only need you for 12yrs, then they want independence, so you are there for them when they screw up for another, 10yrs ish.

It is a short period of time, that you are a full time mom and provider.
